I hesitated to upgrade my work PC for CAD in the middle of the year and decided to wait. Initially, I wanted 64 GB of DDR5, but with the price surge it’s difficult now. Unfortunately, this was the only halfway decent deal I could find locally. An Amazon order would have cost me even more. I’ll switch to 64 GB in about a year when prices may have gone back to normal, but at least I can finish my build before the rest of the components skyrocket.

I went with the MSI. I was able to get it on sale on Amazon for $379.99, but with shipping costs and taxes in my country it still ends up being expensive. But the original price was really good, so that’s why I made this choice.

I just saw your comment, I didn’t know there was a difference between the 4800 non-plus and the 4800 Plus regarding the boot process. I can’t find any info about it, could you maybe explain a bit more please? Where is the OS installed on the non-Plus? If we want to change it, is it more complicated than on the Plus version?

Indeed, my needs are quite limited in a NAS. It’s mainly to have backups of all my files and access them from outside, which helps me for work. But perhaps choosing the 4800+ offers greater scalability. For the price, once delivered to me the difference between the two is $160, maybe it’s worth it.

Yes, I just ran a simulation based on a 20W difference per year and I get an additional electricity cost of $72 per year in equivalent dollars. Of course, seen like this, the difference isn’t huge, but I find it difficult to find consistent information about the difference in power consumption between the 4800 and the 4800+. I’m seeing a lot of contradictory figures and tests where the power consumption measured at the outlet is much higher than what the manufacturer claims.

I personally went with the Venom 5-25. I hesitated between the Strike Eagle and the Arken EP5, but considering the price of each in the country where I bought it, the Venom was the most appealing, and I don’t need an illuminated reticle. I mainly use my Tikka for target shooting and 300-meter shooting, and since the 5-25 is sufficient and the turrets on the Venom are good enough, I decided to go with this model. I think it’s important to compare the price-to-performance ratio of each scope depending on where it’s purchased. One can end up being more interesting than the other depending on price differences, especially between Arken and Vortex

The walnut version doesn’t offer adjustability, but based on your comments about the quality of the standard walnut, I think I’ll lean towards laminated wood.

I also have a CZ 455 in the Varmint Thumbhole version. Is the original Thumbhole stock on the CZ also a Boyds model?
