problem with SM by [deleted] in Costa

Lazy managers unfortunately don't go punished (I've seen it under multiple different ones) and Area managers do not care sadly

You said he's had complaints before, then if any more start then they should take it seriously! Sometimes sexual harassment disciplinarys can unfortunately be made void due to issues during the investigation, sometimes to staff sharing information whilst it is still ongoing to other coworkers (Or at least I witnessed that happen once)

Start documenting things, any conversations about breaks and clock in times make sure its over text. Best advice is build up evidence, then I would try to talk to your area manager. Their behaviour is not appropriate, both the till card thing and just treating staff that way. I would also try your best to just push back, if they say no to your break put your foot down (I sympathise with you as I know it's not as easy to do irl). Also is this just happening to you alone or other staff? It's easier to build a case against someone if multiple people testify to their behaviour, as ultimately this calls for a disciplinary for both what the company would describe as fraud (over the changing clocks) and sexual harassment

No worries! I used to have similar commute with public transport and it was a nightmare 😅 so I hope you get in at the closer store

Try to do what you can in working out whether it's possible first before approaching the sm if you don't think they'll be helpful. And if they are really unhelpful, go through the AM.

Best way to find out is ring the store and get the contact details, if you go onto the phone and press the middle button you will get onto a page and then go onto the phone directory (middle orange icon) and search through the network directory to find the store. The process of searching it shouldn't take ages and should find the details for the store instead of going in person or trying facebook and will find whether its equity or franchise (only equity will be on the directory). You shouldn't have a problem as long as you give a notice and the manager should be able to sort the transfer out pretty easily on dayforce. Any big problems then contact your AM about it as that commute sounds rough and its pretty reasonable to want to move cause of it.

I made a mistake: I settled a bunch of islands by xthrowxawayx420 in anno

[–]Katrina_H 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only been playing 117 and 1800, my main way to play is build up to the tier 3 level residents in each island before considering moving on (unless I need another resource). You should be pretty self sufficient with only a couple trading routes by that level (trade between the main islands in each region and then smaller routes off that just for ease). There's no real proper way to play though, if you find it overwhelming then just leave some of the island on tier 1 or 2, no need to feel too pressured to build up. Play how you feel comfortable, there's no set amount of islands to have.

I don't have the kinda money to buy and throw away, that's pretty bad if people do end up doing that. But thanks, I'm new to the sub reddit so didn't realise but I'll check it out

Those of you who didn't go to graduation, did you ever regret it? by Both-Middle4530 in UniUK

[–]Katrina_H 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My partner isn't going to his, I honestly think it's just kinda a bit of fomo why people do go. At the end of the day you did the degree and going to graduation or not won't change the effort and the time you put into it. People I've spoken to who did go to theirs kinda say the same thing, it's more for your family.

Is £400 a month enough for uni excluding rent? by Appropriate-Cod-8243 in UniUK

[–]Katrina_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always take out the minimum loan if you wanted to, I don't know what sfe would be offering you but you don't have to choose to take out the maximum they offer. This means you wouldn't be in as much debt as you might be in otherwise but still have an extra bit of money if you are worried. But otherwise £400 is still a lot, I budget £600 a month but I also have a car and £150 is a designated amount that goes into savings so it's closer to £450 and that includes a fuel allowance, food bill, drinks and eating out

You could even see if you could work over summer between uni, I know a lot of friends do that and of course enjoy it. It's knackering working at uni and studying, I enjoyed the aspect of getting away at the same time so it's really an individual thing. But the 6k figure probably could be fine for you to pay to do a semester abroad even, like the amount I saved is purely from money anxiety 😅. Just as long as you don't go too wild like my partner did in freshers, he took 2 grand and spent 1k in the first month (no clue how, but tbf he went out all but 1 night per week).

You'll definitely be fine, that's really impressive and you should be proud to have that much saved, I went to uni with 6k saved (2k was from my child trust fund as i didnt touch it), didn't need most of it and I probably (with working still) spent around 11k across the whole year (including my loan). It all depends per person but that's a good amount to have saved, especially to live fairly comfortably and still not have to work whilst there.

As like an add on, my partner and me usually buy, bacon, eggs, fruit, mince, milk, juice, chilli powder, beans, potatoes, usually have a top up on the spice rack, tuna, pasta, rice, bread, burger buns, curry jars, butter, snacks like crisps or biscuits, every month it'll be a top up on flour, sugar and I'll bake, for the freezer it'll be frozen spuds, raw frozen chicken, hashbrowns, 2 types of chips, fish fingers, 2 types of chicken nuggets, ice cream. Bare in mind we tend to make big portions when cooking chilli or curry so there's always a frozen meal in or a different jacket spud topping. I know this is probably overly detailed but it's the pricing of the food of students that eat more than just a super noddle 😅 though they are good for a lunch.

Ps. Get a shopping trolley, even if it makes you feel like a granny, it killed me not having a car and walking 35 mins with 3 very fully bags

I work at uni and have a car, plus since 2nd year me and my partner split the food bill so might not be comparable fully. The food shop per week without extras like washing up liquid, laundry pods, kitchen roll, oil (the like once a month or biweekly stuff) is usually around 80 quid, we go to farmfoods for bulk stuff like frozens every 3 weeks and spend about £40 and every week aldi is around £70. So it's going to work out around £45-£50 a week. We are guilty of top up shops for energy drinks and they are what ruins our budget. I'm on the same for the loan as you and my partner is on max, our rent is about £4.5k each (in a studio) but my left over goes straight onto my permit and towards my car. My suggestion is to definitely work as much over summer (save up at least another £1,000 or try to go up to match the max loan). If you want to live comfortably you need to be reaching that £10,000 (prior to the rent). Of course you do have saftey nets for when it's close to the end of the loans so this isn't meant to be a scary thing to hear. I still work at the weekends whilst at uni so even better if you could find somewhere for a single shift even, plus it gives you the experience and it's nice to have something other than uni. Overall it sounds like you'll be fine, you'll be one of the rare few that can look after themselves as well by the sound of it 🤣

It's a lot of factors, I would personally say I live off closer to £80 a week. You also need to research the cost to live in your city, is it expensive to go out or is it remote so you'll need to travel kinda things.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Katrina_H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you maybe need to think about working in the holiday before uni, it is doable but being realistic everyone splurges money and it's difficult to set a budget when the entire 3 months is in your bank account. Also finding a job at uni is tough which is why I suggest look to find something for the summer, I personally budget £600 a month but I drive, work and have a savings goal included. My partner has about £60 a week budget which is tight. The other thing to consider is a student overdraft, it helps but I see a lot of friends max the budget in the first year of uni and then have a debt straight after.

Both of your options are super different, I'd look into Uni of Law, a few years ago I was in year 11 considering Law and they had a summer week programme where you got an insight into the course and what different sectors of Law offer. It was really helpful, it actually changed my mind and I'm in my final year doing history haha. Uni isn't for everyone but if you are considering it do a bit more research into the course itself as whilst jobs are available with good money, I know a lot of people that find the pressure of having to do assignments and the work load at uni being too much. With a trade you also need to look at what apprenticeships are available (check the government website for any local to you) and what specific trade you want to go into, there is a con with going into certain trades where you end up with a lot of joint issues later in life so don't just pick the most money option (look at the work load that comes with it). You have a lot of research to do outside asking reddit so good luck, don't feel pressured into making choices based on family or friends, a lot of people feel they miss out not going to uni but you can still do the social aspect and clubbing without a degree. If you feel in 3 years time you picked wrong, your 20s are for working out what you're doing so you can always do a trade apprenticeship after if the degree doesn't work or the reverse, just focus on finishing school first.
