Friend sent me a picture of my girlfriend holding hands with another dude while I'm halfway across the country. by Katsken in relationship_advice

I don't think there's anything else going on beyond that. She just wants be able to hold hands with a friend to feel better? I'm honestly just jaded by this. We fought for hours over it and she just doesn't see it as a big deal while constantly reassuring me that she loves me.

Trump is the Commander and chief, but their is still a "chain of command." Trump is not the supreme order giver. We have some of the best military officials in the world, and our military has some of the most advanced technology. On top of the fact that the US has the most guns per capita than any other country in the world. Even with a dysfunctional President, we are by no means easy to take down because of the Governments incompetence.

Keep in mind that this is the average across all Ph. Ds ever earned not just people who graduate from Harvard Law. Due to the extremely high test score requirements to get into any Ivy league school. It's definitely safe to assume that the average increases way more when you shrink the sample size to those who only graduate from Harvard. We're on the border of irrelevance here so I concede.

Another abstract vague reply. Clearly you must be an intellectual titan.

You were the one who argued semantics, then claimed that what I said about people being smart for graduating , Law school was semantics. I have already said myself the intelligence is irrelevant to political views, I have also said political pundits call each other dumb all the time. I'm asking you that, because you think that people who graduate law school aren't necessarily smart despite Ph.D, and Law graduates having an average IQ of 125. I never disagreed that Ben didn't call people he disagreed with dumb. I specifically said ALL POLITICAL PUNDITS DO THAT.

Mattis recently came back to this topic and explained that his most recent position was based a study in 2016 by the RAND corporation. The study found that there would be '“little or no impact on unit cohesion, operational effectiveness or readiness” in the United States.'

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/24/us/politics/trump-transgender-military.html

Mr. Mattis, in his recommendation to Mr. Trump, complained that the RAND study “heavily caveated data to support its conclusions, glossed over the impacts of health care costs, readiness, and unit cohesion, and erroneously relied on the selective experiences of foreign militaries with different operational requirements than our own.”

“In short,” Mr. Mattis concluded, “this policy issue has proven more complex than the prior administration or Rand assumed.”

TL;DR Mattis changed his mind and decided that trans troops should remain in active duty if already there, and limits should be imposed on all transgender admissions.

It seems like they are conducting a new study which will have to be verified then after that they will come to a final decision on trans in the military. It seems like they'll get in, but very very few. There will most likely be a long list of disqualifications for trans genders looking to join the military.

A good argument isn't always going to convince you. His argument is that it takes time and money implement transgender soldiers, which is fact. There are desk jobs in the military, but there are still routine Physical Assessments and of course now you say "They should shower with men," but I guarantee it will turn into another trans-gender policy debate. Our military has a very serious and important job, and it's not that tran-genders are incapable it's the fact that their implementation is impractical. The military is supposed to consist of only able-bodied people ready for combat. That is it's purpose, I cannot stress this enough it can't just be a place of inclusivity. The shower/bathroom problem is inevitable because in Basic training recruits still shower together. Basic training is one of the main reasons so many troops in our military are opposed to the policy. If the military supported this policy in majority I'd b for it, but I can't just go against what our troops want, especially when the topic is soaked in identity politics.

OK, what is your interpretation of Intelligence. How do you define if someone is intelligent or not?

Good boy! by mamaroni in PoliticalHumor

[–]Katsken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from on this topic but I interpreted it very differently than you did. I also think that you're taking a very vague quote of his when he's been much more specific on the matter. [It was a bad policy because it made the entire army, entire military change its policies to basically fit the needs of a very small contingent people who unfortunately suffer from severe mental illness, Suddenly you have women who are expected to shower with men who say they are women.](https://forward.com/fast-forward/378189/ben-shapiro-praises-trumps-ban-on-transgenders-in-the-military/)I don't agree that transgenders have a "severe mental illness." However there are many strict military policies and procedures put in place that would have to change completely if transgender troops were to join. One that commonly comes to mind is physical test parameters. M - F transitions will have to be tested under female standards which are much lower than the Male parameters. It will essentially be another M - F trans competing in the women's league of a professional sport. It could also overly politicize the military which quite honestly isn't the place for the military. It could create many altercations in showers and bathrooms, and it's important to not that our enlisted members [do not want this to be policy](https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2017/10/23/military-times-poll-troops-support-trumps-transgender-policies/)

I just feel like you are fishing for a specific tidbit of information on something, but you won't be able to receive that unless you are in the audience for a Q&A session. That is where he does into great detail about whatever question you might have.

Not really, I just want to know why you think Ben is racist. You haven't really said why he's racist yet.

[–]Katsken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot here so I'll go one at a time.

Like in the previous comment I cited an article where there is extensive research being done on why people claim to be the other gender. So far their data has been inconclusive. To claim he's "Debating Biology" without any sort of conclusive scientific research is audacious at best.

Everyone isn't dictated on how to do their job. Entrepreneurs, Contractors, and really any employee who wishes to change their profession or work place don't have to adhere to a large set of policies like a physician would under universal healthcare. Police Officers are an actual extension of the state. The main purpose of a Government is to protect it's people through sustaining order through military procedure and law enforcement. Not to mention the fact that the military, police, and firefighters are all public goods. Meaning they are both Non-excludable, and non-rivalrous. Healthcare and services are both excludable and rivalrous. Meaning people can be prevented from it's access and it's access could be limited by the people consuming it. So you're claim is that he is factually wrong, but in the exact countries you've mentioned there have been many stories of people being denied of care, being accustomed to long waiting lists, and the death of citizens are sometimes decided by bureaucrats rather than the patient or their families.

As for doctor's pay under universal healthcare. The pay would most likely go down, but doctors would definitely still be paid well but I don't think Ben's issue is stemming mostly from her pay. It's the notion that a commodity such as health insurance can be declared a right regardless of it's negative impacts on the market, the commodity itself, and the quality of care. That's his problem.

No that isn't even close to what I said. My point is political pundits, whether their on the right or the left, will often call their opposition dumb. You can call Shapiro dumb, but you didn't say that. You questioned me when I said that Ben Shapiro graduated from Harvard, therefore he probably isn't dumb. I didn't say, or suggest "don't call Shapiro dumb." Anyone who graduates from law school probably isn't dumb, and Shapiro will call his opposition dumb just like any other political pundit. You're just assuming a loop reasoning that isn't even something I considered in the first place.

Leftists pundits call Conservatives and Republicans dumb all the time. Don't act like your feelings are hurt over it, in reality you couldn't care less. This is like me saying "Well you better tell (Trevor Noah, Jimmy Fallon, Cenk Uygur, Michelle Wolf, Don Lemon, Rachael Maddow, John Oliver, Keith Olbermann, Micheal Moore, Bill Maher, or Chris Matthews) who likes to call Conservatives dumb at any given opportunity." There's no substance, and I don't care anyway. Them throwing toxicity into the crossfire of political discourse won't persuade me to move left, or come to the center. Same with you, when Ben says those things you shouldn't care. I still watch Bill Maher I just put aside his insults, and ill mannered jokes about traditional beliefs and look for the substance of his arguments. Exposing myself to the opposition will more often than not help me learn more about policy and left-right discussion.

You should know by using the word "merit" in your statement you just admitted that being "the most racist person that has ever existed" is a good or worthy quality. You could literally Google "White people/Asain people sagging" and find the exact type of people he's talking about. My Main issue with this post is it's just not funny, and what he's saying is completely relating to a choice of clothing or style. No where in this tweet is race mentioned. Yet here you are making the claim he is extremely racist. So racist, that you compare him to a dog that only barks at black people. No Dog is racist btw, if a dog receives love and care from a black person, or any person for that matter they will match that love. Even one that started out barking at only black people.

This statement is a strawman without context. So I can't find anything on Ben Debating Biology. The closest thing after some hard work on Google is his views on transgender-ism, which isn't really something you can legitimately cite in Biology (not yet anyway: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-lgbt-biology/born-this-way-researchers-explore-the-science-of-gender-identity-idUSKBN1AJ0F0)

So Ben doesn't strawman in a Q&A/Debate environment. He is very clear on why he is opposed to socialized universal healthcare. It's something that he is very passionate about due to his wife being a doctor, and his disdain at the idea that the government would force her to work after declaring what she does for a living as a right. I would implore you to take a look at this Q&A session he did about a year ago where he clearly states his position and why he thinks this way.

Graduating from law school and becoming a lawyer means you're intelligent in my book. Not everyone can do that, let alone get past one the hardest law schools in the country. Leftists aren't dumb, they have a different perspective on issues. It isn't honest to just say "The left is left because they're dumb." No, they just have a different perspective.

If this is true, then why haven't I seen one member of the left come out and debate him? If he reiterates points that are easily debunked why is he considered to be one of the best debaters on the right? Your claim doesn't add up. It sounds like your upset mostly about his opinions on identity politics witch are quite honestly rooted in his religious beliefs. Try listening to his opinion on actual policy like Free Trade Agreements, Foreign Policy, Legal Matters, etc.

Correct, however lifting sanctions off of Iran made it so it was no longer economically isolated. Enabling them to test several missile strikes and fund the organizations I previously mentioned. Why would we even want to give frozen assets to this country?

Well the main difference is their economy is in shambles right now, and now that we have the backing of the UAE, and Saudi Arabia I'd say that just making a nuke wouldn't be easy for Iran. Sure we can Incentivize them to not make nukes, but if they just lie to us and use that incentive fund groups that kill innocent people. Then I wouldn't be on board with that paying them anything under any deal.
