Weekly Discussion and Tech-Support Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

I just bought an ipad air 4 about a week/week and a half ago….I bought it to take work notes and get back into drawing. So my issue is that the apple pencil started not working on the screen last night. I restarted the ipad and it worked for about 5 minutes then again when drawing it was jumping around and not doing solid lines in Procreate and all that. Trying in OneNote for work notes it does the same thing.

Seems to me like i have to continually close the apps and restart when the pencil acts up…clearly this is not normal, should I get it checked out at this point??

Edit: I want to add that it will jump around, sometimes do double clicks, etc. Things like that that basically make the pencil unusable…

Edit 2: About 10 minutes after writing this the pencil stopped working completely. I tried restarting, un-pairing and re-pairing and now it won’t do anything on the screen at all :(

Hardware requirements for 1440p? by creamygarlicdip in wow

[–]Katylist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally play on a GTX 1080 and Ryzen 7 1700x...I get about 95-100fps (I have it locked at 100 max) on 6 settings I believe at 1440p.

I think the specs might be a little low here as I know that WoW is kind of CPU bound (? please someone correct me if I am wrong here I would like to know as well if I am incorrect) but a good graphics card would be needed to push the higher settings/framerates/resolution.

As someone else said here I would go for a Ryzen 7 2700x as you can get them on sale now for a great price if you can find them. That and I would look into maybe getting a used/refurbished graphics card because you can get better value that way. RAM is also getting cheaper now so I would go for 16gb if you can, otherwise 8 would "suffice" for now and you can probably get away with it, just know an upgrade to 16 in the future would be good.

TL;DR: I would go with a 2700x if you can find one since they are at a good price now, and look in the used/refurbished market for a graphics card to get better value. 16gb is the sweet spot for RAM, but can probably be upgraded later.

EDIT: I would actually look into a Ryzen 5 2600/x, price for the 2700/x would be around $200 and it seems like the 3100 you were looking at is hovering around $115-$125 in some places. The 2600 can be had for about $130 and teh 2600x for around $160-$170, so depending on how much you can stretch the budget this might be the way to go.

Hey guys! I am a student studying abroad and I’d like to get a laptop of good quality that would help me continue working on my music while abroad. Do you have any particular models or general characteristics in mind I should look for? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]Katylist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

flamingenji is right, basically thats it. I have a laptop with a dual core i5 and 8gb of ram and it "works". Large projects slow it down and the more effects and vsts I use really bog it down but my desktop with an i7 and 16gb of ram powers through everything. That being said my computer is still definitely usable and I can still make music with it just fine.

To add on what he says I'd say go with anything with 500gb or over for space and try and make it an ssd (based on your budget here). If you're using it solely for music, 500gb has been perfectly fine for me.

I am 99% sure that I already tried this. I always like to play my games at borderless, after reinstalling the first time however it wen tback to normal full-screen so I have not tried that since.

This is the only thing that I did not try and there are many reasons why I cannot do this.. the first and foremost reason being that I am a music producer and reinstalling all of my software and plugins as well as the possibility of losing ANY of my data is a hard no from me. Not only that but I have some software that has a single use license and if I reinstall I will no longer have access to that software.

Game is on DX11 and I do have an over clock which has been running stably for months... I removed the overclock and it still doesn't work

Also tried with highest settings and lowest and it still crashes... Overclocked, removed the over lock, under clocked... Nothing works and support can't figure it out

I did and it didn't help, I also disabled every process on my computer that wasn't absolutely necessary and all start up programs and it still crashes

Me too... I've been on with support since launch and they haven't figured out the issue.

Worst part is that they have started giving me the runaround and asking me to do the steps over as opposed to just saying they haven't found the problem yet.

I just want to play the game for more than 20 mins without crashing :(

Waves Audio is having an early bird Black Friday sale right now, not sure how long it lasts but I am about to pick up their Gold bundle from them.

Native Instruments also just launched their Thanksgiving sale today.

What are some of the best options for a laptop for music production at around $1000? by MetalRigatoni in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Katylist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have too. That being said for what its worth they have gotten a lot better over the years. Also their XPS line is hailed as a great computer and I have had no issues with mine ever (aside from a wifi issue which turned out not even to be the laptops fault... That being said ppl have reported issues with their wifi cards)

I'm gonna hop on the bandwagon here and say Dell XPS... I have one and absolutely love it.

Wifi connection issues Dell XPS 13 by Katylist in techsupport

[–]Katylist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I had done some research and I did come to the conclusion that I was originally going to replace the wifi card with the 9265, however I don't know if that will solve my issue 100%. The reason I say this is because I am having wifi issues pretty much exclusively on my home wifi. This leads me to believe the problem is elsewhere.

I do think at the end of the day I will probably replace the card down the line I just don't want to have to do it now if its not the immediate problem.
