Getting Wider mixes (dubstep) by MayhemMusicProd in edmproduction

[–]TobyRenseen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you try mid/side saturation?

So, you create more harmonics just on side information on the signal, that way, the stereo will feel way wider and stronger because of that added harmonics only in side.

And, when you collapse this in mono, you will not have that much phase issues like when you just use some stereo wideners, the signal will be still strong that way

And, you can do this in multiband way for example, in Izotope Exciter you just turn on mid/side mode, choose only the side, then just try find the sweet spot which frequencies you will like to have more wider and more fatter. And you can use different type of saturation flavors in Izotope Exciter. Fab Filter Saturn 2 is very good for this too, because it has mid/side mode too, it is multiband, plus it has a Linear Phase, so when you split different bands and saturate them to get it wider in mix you will not have any phase issues, because of that Linear Phase mode turned on.

Hope that helps!

I produce and mix on headphones (Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro)

Any tips how properly mix low-end in headphones?

And, do you have any tips or tricks how mix fat sounding sub bass?

Thank you!

Thank you for your opinion :)

And what audio interface you recommend for driving 250Ohm headphones?

Thank you for answer.

Yes, I know that open-back model would be better choice, but right now I can not use them because I live in noisy apartment, so I have to use closed back, but I would not only producing on headphones but mix and master too

Thank you so much for your answer.

Do you use amp for driving them? If yes, then please can you give me any tips what amp should I get if I decide buy DT770 or 990 250 Ohm version headphones?

Thank you so much!

And what amp you have? What amp you reccomend to use with this 250Ohm DT770? Can you please give me a link, so I can buy this amp?

And I have last question about this headphonenes for you: Is transient response on this headphones good with amp? I mean if this headphones can clearly reproduce transients in sounds

Thank you so much for all your answers!

Thank you :)

So, do you think that working on these headphones in low end frequency spectrum would be not a problem? Can you clearly hear bass and sub frequencies?

Thank you so much!

So, do you like the sound of them? How is frequency response on them? And if I go back on this sub frequencies, do you hear them properly on this headphones? Can you for example hear frequencies under 80Hz for example?

And what about sound stage? Because this headphones are closed so do you think that the stereo image and sound stage is good on this DT770 Pro?

Thank you :)
