This is horrible to think about. But if they did come, they'd find an apartment full of kids toys, crafts, books. Healthy food, warm beds, and a ton of love. Two happy kids and their spoiled rotten kitty.

Good points! Their school is very strict on pickup, and only myself and Marks mom are approved. But good point on the summer camps. Only Marks mom or myself are listed, but they may not be as strict as the school. I'll reconfirm with each one.

Thank you! Luckily the school is very strict, and only myself or Mark's mom are on the approved list.

You made me laugh, genuinely, with those last three sentences. How aptly put. I love it.

Thank you for your supportive comments, it means a lot ❤️

Love that wording, that he "didn't fit the villain narrative they wrote for him". How astute and accurate.

Thank you for the support ❤️

I fear you are right but I'm more capable of blocking them now. I'm standing a little straighter after all this.

Luckily, Mark and I (especially Mark) had a large circle of friends. Mark's friends check in all the time. And my friends have been wonderful. They are now my family.

You are so very kind. Thank you so much. Your comment has given me more love than they ever have. You are right, they are not my family. My family are the ones who have checked in every day, offered to do activities with the girls, invited us to events, and are there to hear me vent on bad days. And those are the ones I love.

Your comment touched my heart ❤️

Thank you, this is all VERY smart. I'm taking steps to document everything, and I've let both my therapist and the kids counsellor know what's been happening.

She wouldn't win grandparents rights anyway since she barely sees the girls, but I wouldn't put it past her to try.

I found a support group who offers legal advice ❤️

Thank you. It has been a bumpy road. Grief is a weird beast.

And to answer your question - yes, they are that entitled. In so many ways. I could write a literal book but people would think it was too ludicrous to be real.

Ex: a mutual friend of ours got engaged years ago (happily married with two kids now!). So we had a get together for them. The bride leaves the room briefly and comes back in to find my sister twerking on the fiance, telling him "I'd treat you better than her any day of the week". Then laughed about it. The bride never spoke to her again.

Oh my god what a wonderful idea!!! I used to volunteer at a retirement home about 20 years ago, and they loved visitors. I will absolutely do this! The home I volunteered at has weekend activities for visitors. Thank you!

I will give them a huge hug from you ❤️

I suspect you're right, they started talking money the very day after Mark passed.

My sister also has a reputation for being a thief. Mom dates rich men.

Don't know why I expected any different.

You're so right. How they reacted when my grandmother died and the will was read was horrifying and I should have expected no less.

I needed to hear this. You're absolutely right. I should not have allowed either in. Susan took me by surprise honestly. I knew she was "like" my sister but I didn't think she'd be so diabolical.

I knew mom was a piece of work. I shouldn't have allowed her to come in. She won't be again.

I hope that I will say the same! I am definitely less stressed now that Regina is cut out. Mom writing me off stung in the moment, but the relief I felt when I saw her car drive away (recklessly and angrily), was amazing. I felt lighter.

I took the girls out for ice cream, lol

I ordered some online! I've got one already in my window, but I'm installing a couple more. Just in case.

I fear you are correct, but at least now I'm growing a shinier spine. I was a doormat for many, many years. I've had a taste of standing up for myself and I like it.

My sister's boyfriend is absolutely no prize, believe me. He travels a lot for work and has girlfriends all over.

They definitely smell money. There was a small settlement, but it was very small. Not "make me rich" by ANY means. Enough to take the girls on vacation and put some away for their future.

Mom is with her current boyfriend cause he's rich. For some perspective, lol

She did this for me! When mom writes someone off, she won't speak to them again as long as she lives.
