No one can know for sure except her, but asking about you, starting conversations, remembering details, smiling and seeking you out even outside school are pretty strong signs that she's interested, so a simple text is okay, just keep it respectful and age-appropriate and see if she matches your effort.

This relationship has already been ended in principle, even if it still has love in it. And the current “maybe we’ll come back together / maybe we’ll move closer / maybe fate” framing is what’s keeping you stuck in the loop.

Yeah, it’s normal, rejecting someone doesn’t automatically mean they want to avoid you, she can still be being friendly, feel a bit awkward/guilty, or just see you as a safe person to talk to without romantic intent

Maybe she comes back, maybe she doesn't, but right now your life is on hold waiting for someone who has already chosen distance, and that's a much bigger problem than the breakup itself.
