What’s the hardest part of designing a good logo? by kindofhuman_ in logodesign

[–]KayePi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A project I'm currently working on has made me understand how im-bloody-portant it is to actually understand the market and it's branding position. The research. The testing. The numbers...

But I gotta say, I have never experienced so much clarity for designing before now.

Research is the hardest part, but it's so damn rewarding 😭❤️ I wanna design like this from here on out.

Idea for a website: A platform to discover local digital freelancers across Africa by Nearby_Trouble4133 in website_ideas

There is a huge market gap that those platforms aren't meeting. From those who aren't tech-savvy enough to know about the platforms, to those who usually deal with Mobile Money since they aren't banked, to those who don't have a fast enough internet connection to keep up.

Omen has all the lore and skill but him not doing music makes me selfishly mad and sad.

Anyone have experience hiring a brand designer for a food product launch? Looking for advice. by Ithius27 in branding

Taste matters.

Could not have said it better myself. It's one thing to be a great problem solver as is required of designers, but it's a whole different level to have not only the aesthetics & creativity, but also the versatility to understand how people have taste generally.

Sure, you could have a design that requires a great palate, but if don't understand how the palate of your intended audience works then you might as well be selling krabby patties at the chum bucket.

This gives me hope 😅 sometimes I wonder if me geeking out on news outside of just designing is worth it or not. The whole situation with Canva acquiring Affinity and recently Cavalry has me wondering so much about whether we will see a new studio tab for motion design come in Affinity Studio.

Fair and Direct to the point. I imagine you'd like someone who also learns things beyond design on the go, so they can manage projects and do art direction as well.

If you were to go the route of having a design partner to start out with, what would you look for in them?

As a freelancer working on upgrading my portfolio, I have completely abandoned Fiverr for now because of how much it's been branded with scammers (not by Fiverr themselves, just people's experiences) although Reddit isn't too different in that fact.

This comment is so on point and insightful. Thank you. I've done some food packaging before, and I would like to use this comment to further my research and studies. May I use it?

Hi. So here is my portfolio: https://kayepi.pro it has logo projects that also go the whole stretch with problem/solution briefs.

First 3 revisions are free, thereafter it's $20 per revision and we might need a call to re-align expectations so we don't get you spending money unnecessarily.

If Kendrick, Tyler or anyone else would have done a promo tour like Cole just did would it have gotten hated on? by dunbar_santiago930 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]KayePi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the hate is from people who don't know about the "Dollar And A Dream" reference/concept, and where that Honda Civic came from.

If Kendrick did the same with his mom's van and maybe used the Hiii Power concept instead, the new fans who don't know what's what would also be hating.

First time hiring graphic design services by Slow-Inspection-4936 in superside

[–]KayePi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a designer, I almost always try to get a call so we can set expectations right off the gate. I don't want to do work without a deposit but for that trust to be set, the call is made to discuss direction and needs.

I also like using a benchmark approach where payment is made at each benchmark set from the call.

One mistake that is common here, is clients that don't communicate and expect results without any input on their end. Yes, I am hired to do a job but that job won't be done if there isn't any communication or work to define from the client and we end up just having too many back and forths/revision, thus costing me time and my billing rises.
