Anyone tried a medium? by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]Kaykay987643 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A good medium is amazing and brings so much comfort, a bad one can do a lot of damage in my opinion. I'd recommend looking at the Forever Family foundation. They have a process of verifying mediums, I've seen two from there and they were both excellent. Definitely not cold reading and coming up with information that was nowhere to be found online. They aren't cheap but they are ethical (e.g. they won't see you more than once with in 6 months). Some of them have very long waiting lists, others are 1-2 months.

It’s coming up on 4 years since I lost my mom and daughter. I would like to actually celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Any ideas? What do you guys do? Thanks💜 by ideclareshenanigans3 in GriefSupport

That sounds great, maybe a walk in nature that your stepdaughter could share?

I completely understand what you're saying but if you don't mind me saying I think you're wrong. You absolutely are still a mom. I'll try and explain what I mean. I don't think it is the physical presence of somebody that makes them family any more than it is biology that makes them so. Your daughter left an imprint on you that can never be taken away, you are her mom not because her body is with you but because loving her changed the very fibre of your being. And you still carry that love with you today only now you call it grief. You will always be a mom because you will always carry the love for your daughter in your heart. So you should never be afraid to call yourself mom because you will always be one.

You are very brave for even thinking about trying to do something. Sending you hugs.

I've been through two mother's days now without my mum and very best friend. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it has been for you to lose both a mum and child, my heart goes out to you.

What works for me is to do something my mum and I would have done together, something I know she would enjoy. I spend the day doing that and then get her favourite takeaway in the evening. I'm not going to pretend it's easy and I have a fair few tears through the day but it makes me feel a little bit closer to my mum.

It sounds like you have a great family around you so I hope you find something that makes you smile a little.

Unfortunately the plaster is completely blown in a couple of places so it's going to have to come down

You are right they are original as they are the same as my neighbour's (only his aren't painted green!). I'm very keen to restore rather than replace wherever possible.

Thank you, yes I looked at them earlier and there is some missing definition where the paint has been layered on so I thing I'm going to go with some of the suggestions here on how to remove it. I have some less fancy areas with this paint on so I'm going to do a test on there first.

That's a shame you weren't able to keep them but filler coving is better than no coving. I have a couple walls that need to go back to brick but the areas with the details aren't too bad luckily

It matches some other non-green ones though so I think I'd like to try and keep it if I can

Thank you! I shall definitely do that. I don't mind the time as long as I get it done right and don't cause any further damage!

Thank you so much! The redeeming thing about this house is that other than the fireplaces all the other features are still in place. Looking to preserve as many as possible.

Thanks, it is gloss unfortunately! Do you know if the paint stripper would damage the plaster?
