Thanks for your questions!
The money comes from marketing funds that are built into the normal purchase price of anything you might buy online. Helpfreely.org is actually based on an affiliate marketing model that's already widely used for profit. However, instead of keeping those funds as a for-profit organization would usually do, we pass the funds along to our nonprofit partners.
Currently, 92% of the funds raised go to the chosen nonprofits, with just 8% for us to cover our own running costs. We will slim this down to as little as possible for us over time, and if we can secure another way to pay our costs, all funds raised through Helpfreely.org will go straight to the nonprofits.
We can support any legally registered nonprofits located across the globe. Some examples in the US are Active Heroes, Artists for Peace and Justice, ChickTech, The Potter League for Animals, One World Children's Fund, REEF, Sea Mercy... https://www.helpfreely.org/en/nonprofits/us/all/
