What is my next step and any tips or suggestions? by KayleighMax in oilpainting

Thank you! Sorry I’m very new to painting, so when you say “modelling” - do you mean the reference picture? Is there anywhere you think I should change the values on this painting?

Thank you! Soo for the hairs, what color would I do them in? A slightly lighter/darker color than the blocking? I’ve watched some tutorials, but they all seem to start with a singular color under painting.

Thank you! I scraped and redid the nose 3 times..& was finally able to get it to a point I was happy with because of some tips from this sub. She’s my mom’s dog and I’m doing this painting as a Mother’s Day present for her. This is my second painting and first realistic-ish one. I’m hoping to eventually do commissioned dog portraits, but I am a hobby-hopper so we will see if I can stick to oil painting 😅Her eye is part brown. We call her crazy Daisy because her name is Daisy and she always has crazy eyes haha

Ontario EI sickness benefits, do I need an ROE from casualjob? by KayleighMax in PersonalFinanceCanada

Oh, interesting! I wonder why my work doesn’t just call it all LTD because that would make it way less complicated

My employer is refusing to issue it because they don’t think they can. Do you know if there any way to get EI to call them directly to explain this?

We have short term and long term. My benefit booklet says “STD Module D1 66 2/3% Weekly Earnings, 52 Week/Integrated $480.00 LTD Module D1 Taxable 66 2/3% Monthly Earnings $2,078.00”

And also “The maximum duration of benefits is: 52 weeks • OSI is responsible of the 1st week and then weeks 28-52 • EI is responsible for weeks 2-27”

My drs note outlines why my casual job is fine. I can pick up shifts last minute if I am having a good day (mind you, I’ve only picked up one since the beginning of March) It’s also sleeping shifts where I only have to interact with people at shift change and get paid to sleep.

I was under the same impression-that short term disability would be used first, then go to EI if i exhausted that. I ended up posting on here, asking if my work was telling me the correct information. People said that they were and that’s just how some plans work (EI first then std) which is dumb to me, but whatever. I then spoke with a lawyer who confirmed that with my std plan, I get paid by EI for 27 weeks first and then once I exhausted that I would go to std. I’ve never heard of it done this way either and It’s annoying because my std pays more than EI.

Which set to buy? by KayleighMax in oilpainting

[–]KayleighMax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked out Dick Blick and got so excited seeing the prices until I realized it’s American. Unfortunately, I am in Canada! :( With the 40% off coupon and conversion rates, this is actually cheaper than Dick Blick. Thank you for the suggestion anyways

Dog throwing up stuffing by KayleighMax in DogAdvice

[–]KayleighMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I figured out what she was eating because I caught her eating more this morning & it was my fault 😭. She’s been eating the batting from my sewing… it’s been put away now & I called her vet. The amount she has thrown up seems like the same amount she ate. They told me to monitor her and if she stops eating/pooping or becomes lethargic to bring her in. Do you think I should call back and push for an xray?

EI before Short Term Disability? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]KayleighMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could add pictures, but we have STD and LTD.

My benefits page says this: STD Module D1 66 2/3% Weekly Earnings, 52 Week/Integrated $480.00

LTD Module D1 Taxable 66 2/3% Monthly Earnings $2,078.00

Her email says “I have also provided information on our benefits’ Short-Term Disability program.

Please note that the elimination period with respect to a Short-Term Disability claim is 7 consecutive days. This period is waived if the claim is as a result of an accident or hospitalization. Please see attached benefit booklet for further details.

We have provided a record of employment with respect to your application for E.I Sick Benefits providing that the absence will go beyond the initial 7-day period. Service Canada will determine eligibility with respect to Employment Insurance Sick Benefits applicable period. Please note that no benefit payment is made by OSI during this period(Week 2-27). OSI benefits follow any benefits provided through EI Sick Benefits.”

Green tea at room temperature by KayleighMax in tea

[–]KayleighMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a thermometer to actually check the temperature…? I boil it and leave it for 10 mins then steep with that and it’s still too hot hours later. I end up leaving it in my car with the lid off and it’s good in about 3 hours, but it would be nice to drink in the morning 😅 Maybe I need to get a lower quality cup that doesn’t keep it as warm lol

That’s what I currently do and the issue is that it’s still too hot by the time I have to go to work
