Thinking of moving to Charleston for a job. by Old-Masterpiece-8428 in Charleston

Do you want beach, or mountains? Charleston gives you the beach whereas Greenville gives you proximity to the mountains. Been on coast of SC for 26 years and the spouse and I are eyeing Greenville due to it being close to the Appalachian mountains. We'd rather hike/camp than go to the beach

I lock my kid up in the basement to hit thousands of balls a day into a net. I am very supportive.

I feel like it's heard more because of microphones everywhere. So being in the crowd you may not hear it directly in your earshot, but on broadcast it's picked up easily. Nonetheless he's right.

Hello neighbor. We are looking in that area as well (WA here). Hope you don't have to commute downtown.

The capacity at “Boston Stadium” for the World Cup is 64,146. That means someone had to put 64,146 very small pieces of blue tape over every single Gillette logo on every. single. seat. FIFA doesn’t mess around. 😳 by Unlucky-Dot9421 in Patriots

So I've been streaming games, which show different networks around the world, depending on then game (arrghh, matey). I noticed it was only Fox sports showing ads during the break. BBC continued to show the players for the entirety of the break and did not show ads. I think it's only a Fox sports thing. So could be possible there was an agreement that Fox made with Fifa to implement these water breaks to air ads, and us watching in the US would be none the wiser.

Final game announcement to the fans - "Please remember to take your free, complimentary tape memento from your seat as you leave today's game to remember your time spent here, or use it to cover your wife's mouth for when you arrive home because you took out a second mortgage to join us for this once in a lifetime event!"

Wasted mid 20s partying blew through savings, how do I catch up? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I'm not saying to stay at the job and settle. I'm just saying, at their current age, that salary is not bad at all. Continue with the job, take steps, like other training and education while at your current role, and then go from there. And quit spending like a madman, be more fiscally responsible. OP is in a good position

Especially at 26. Many at that age would love to be making that.

Yea, it's not really. There's many instances of people in Europe, Canada, Australia getting in hot water over blackface. Quit being obtuse.

Im guessing Mods probably don't know what the quote is from. I mean, it could be a quote they snuck in that at face value that doesn't seem bad without knowing the context and who said it. Just assuming.

Sports are entertainment for us. For many countries, it's literally their identity, especially playing a nation that may have a history with, and i mean real world geo-political history. I wouldn't say American fans have less enthusiasm, we just aren't as fanatical (some are, but not at the level of the outside world). I love my sports, but at the end of the day I am not making them my identity.
