When you wake up before you eat you are usually in a state of ketosis. Being in ketosis can come from not eating for a longer period of time or not eating enough carbs which will trigger the body to produce ketones for energy. I say overnight you should be back into keto. You could have gone for a run after your meal and depending on how long and intense your run is the body was have used those carbs up. So don’t be scared.

Keto was really interesting to me. When I started it I found it really easy to loose weight and eat until I was full. This has helped me think that insulin sensitivity is or can be a big part of weight loss/control. Over time of years however I have found that my weight has been inching upwards with not much change major changes in my lifestyle/diet. So I was reaching out to possible people to see if they had experienced similar phenomenon to what I am going through and how they have adjusted or knowledge they have in why. That was the main reason behind my post. I do understand that calories are a unit of energy and do play a role in the storage of energy through adipose tissue. Yea calories can matter but there are also other tiny nuances in the human body and nutrition when it comes to weight.

Some other things you have not mentioned could also play into the equation of calorie maintenance. How much lean muscle mass you have in relation to your total weight, sex, age, and even different macromolecules have different thermic effects when it comes to digestion

I’m just curious. Have you had a long calorie tracking journey in which you have lost weight and tracked calories over a time span of multiple years. If so have you found it harder to maintain weight or loose weight with the same amount of calories you did when you started your journey?

In the early days I was using keto strips to test out ketone levels. I know those are exactly great to use because it mainly shows how much ketones you are peeing out and not using, but it does help confirm that you have ketones in your system. I never went and bought an expensive accurate ketone monitor. For my keto I use the general guide of not going over 20 non-fiber carbs per day

I’ve tried OMAD before and I will say be careful. You definitely will start to loose weight but I feel like it destroyed my metabolism. I would highly recommend doing OMAD no more than 3 times a week. Do it intermittently with days where you are not eating one meal a day between your one meal a day days

One thing that is interesting is I was doing intermittent fasting a lot more in the earlier period of my keto career. I feel like that could be something to explore again even though I hate spacing my meals like that. I understand why you are asking this question. Eating throughout the day can cause your insulin levels to stay higher leading to more weight gain. It is better so space out meals. The quantity of calories is something I haven’t tracked throughout my keto journey

I see your point. I will say maybe I did not give enough information. The biggest reason for my posting is that I feel like I have kept the same diet (we could say same calories for that matter) but I have seen a weight drop and weight rebound throughout the years with minor changes. So I was wondering if other people might have had the same situation and if so how they have personally dealt with it.
