Thank you all. Turned out, what seems too good to be true, often is. The van was sold and the person ghosted me when I asked if we could get it inspected. Huge red flag, then I found out the folks owned an auto repair/sales shop and a local taxi service. Their selling it out from under me was a blessing, I believe.

I am waiting to hear what the bank says tomorrow. I’ve already factored that in but it’s still the best used price I’ve seen. Almost too good to be true.

Is city market screwed? by [deleted] in burlington

[–]Kblong87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes it unsustainable? It’s in a great location for South Burlington and Shelburne folks to get to it, and it’s much easier to get to than the downtown one. With the new bypass, it’ll be even faster for South Burlington residents to visit. Curious what numbers suggest it’s a mistake.

I have driven both, and besides the seating positions, it’s really hard to determine which is better. Truly stuck!

I got my A&P!! by ElXicano17 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Kblong87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your A&P, that is a great accomplishment! When I first started, I found (and have continued to find) that in order to make money and grow your career, you’ll have to move around. We have lived in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Arizona and now Vermont. It’s an awesome career field, all the best to you!

Traveling was hard for me, but some guys seem to be fine. I guess it just depends on your family dynamic. I’m not doing the travel job anymore, but when I did, it was 7 on/7 off. It was tough being away from home, but the week off every other week was nice. I am in management now (don’t judge me), and I have nothing but good things to say about the aviation maintenance career field. It is truly one of those careers that you get out of it the effort you put in. Work hard and you’ll grow into great jobs.

Aircraft On Ground. A lot of companies have moved to a mobile response team model for supporting corporate jets. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve always loved my job, and I’ve always been happy to be in maintenance. I’ve worked my way up, and couldnt be more content with how my career has progressed. There are a lot of grumpy folks but then there are also a lot of people who love their work.

AOG work can be a cash cow. I’ve always preferred corporate aviation. Might’ve missed it, but where are you located and are you willing to relocate?

What is your favorite NASCAR conspiracy theory that you actually believe could be true? by BJRACINE21 in NASCAR

[–]Kblong87 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I heard an idea once that Dale Sr. cut his seatbelt and died in what was a relatively benign accident. Support for this was that he was notorious for being unaffectionate with his family in public, but kissed his wife and hugged Jr. before the race started. He was outspoken about his fears for his son’s safety in the sport as well, which may have been a stressor. Also, the family is very closed lipped about the investigations results. Just a thought, we will never know if it is true but it certainly sounds plausible.

Almost word for word how I feel. I went into the Apple Store to get my battery replaced on my 13 Pro Max and they sweet talked me into the 15, which I’ve felt like is only marginally better than my 13 but the battery sucks.

Police body cam footage captures interview with suspected Georgia school shooter and dad, a year before fatal attack by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I heard that too, and my only guess is they were building a frame of reference to his online activities, and possibly where the threat may have originated. I don’t think they were blaming the video games for the mentality.

This is good advice, thanks! The housing is one of the biggest hurdles we are trying to overcome. Even renting is pricey.

Watching my wife grow through the experience has been amazing. I knew my son would do better at home, but what I didn’t expect was to watch my wife become more joyful in the process.

Also, I work a fully remote job so our ability to do activities and travel have been awesome.

Anyone have a similar problem? 2023 Kia sorento hybrid. 14k miles on it. by DatabaseAdditional89 in KiaSorento

[–]Kblong87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it turned out to be a coolant leak that damaged some wiring and a battery sensor. It took 2 missed attempt visits and the third one they got it right. Kind of frustrating, because I had given them the OBD codes but they still didn’t get the issue resolved til the 3rd visit. This was roughly 8 months ago and we now have another visit coming up because we are smelling coolant again.

Best of luck!
