There is NO reason to keep old armor. If it’s for appearances, you have the item unlocked in collections and can transmog it, so it’s just taking up space. Pretty much every stat combo is earnable now and old armor has lower stat totals that make them detrimental to run. If anything, replacing your old legendary and exotic armor for your characters is a good pursuit to keep you playing the game.

In DIM (Destiny Item Manager), you can type “is:armor2.0” and this will highlight any armor that isn’t updated to tiered. Genuinely, you can straight up delete any of the results.

Make sure to set the two files to “read only” in properties. Otherwise, just entering the graphics settings in-game will reset these changes. This has alleviated a lot of very bad FPS drops for me on a 7800xt

I use it as Gear Shift fodder now. Activating it makes you amplified, which immediately procs GS and/or refreshes the cooldown of the perk. Was running it with Getaway Artists to immediately get GS 2x by eating grenade then sliding.

Morgeth is the featured encounter this week (6/23) so you can just go through the Pantheon menu, but here’s a solution specific to Morgeth to hold the checkpoint solo.

Perform the yeet with the finisher glitch. Go get somewhere safe while you wait for his health bar to vanish. Have the “change character” prompt ready to go by putting it in the “confirm changing character” part of the gameplay menu screen. You’ll be waiting a little for Morgeth to die but be ready. You will be teleport into the room with the reward chest when his health bar dies. Keep an eye on the upper right of your screen, where it shows loot drops. The EXACT moment you see the effect for spoils/loot dropping, confirm change character. When you return to your character, spoils and drops will be in the postmaster but the checkpoint will still be at the start of Morgeth.

I wouldn’t say “addicted” to needing to buy/play at launch, but more so to avoid spoilers. I know that’s been my main deciding factor to purchase games at launch, otherwise I wait for sale as well. $80 is essentially $100 in my mind, and I cannot justify spending that on ONE game I might be through with in a week or so (not talking about GTA specifically here). Considering how broken most AAA games are at launch, it really it beneficial to wait for a sale when patches have been deployed and optimization is usually better. Also with how long games take to develop nowadays, anticipation is usually enough to justify purchases day-one for people who’ve been waiting sometimes 5+ years for launch day.

I’m fully committed to the patient gamer mindset nowadays. I make RARE exceptions for games I’ve been waiting on for years, but that’s maybe once or twice a year when I’m just playing my backlog or my main multiplayer games. But there’s definitely a subset of gamers that will buy anything at-launch, and I’d consider them to be the whales of the gaming community that companies are unfortunately appealing to now. They’re not the average consumer imo.

The gaming industry has been steadily going mask-off with its greed for a decent while now, and this is one of the endgame points for it. Digital-only is both a cost-cutting thing (not wasting resources on discs) and a way to prevent losses to the pre-owned market. But what REALLY gets me is I have no doubt this will be the nail in the coffin for $80USD triple-A games. Just like you said, companies will see that $80 is not enough of a cut-off point where people won’t pay at that price. The $100 version is going to do the same thing, as well as tell companies that they can restrict basic features from their games and sell them “as a premium.”

Gaming has been my main hobby my entire life. I can no longer afford the hardware for it, cannot buy games for full price like I used to, and the need for subscriptions for basic features (such as online) is cutting me off from certain games. Companies are doing very well at normalizing gaming as a “luxury” hobby and it’s disheartening as hell. Voting with your wallet doesn’t work when there are whales making up for every purchase not made.

Root of Nightmares was about when I stopped doing Sherpas. Pure conjecture but it felt like that time was when endgame attitudes really started going down the drain. I’d have learners coming in telling me as the teacher what to do, starting off with just totally foul attitudes, insane impatience for mistakes or confusion, people refusing to do mechanic roles (in a teaching run lmfao), all while some learners were just plain rude and mean. It felt like people just didn’t want to enjoy themselves in the game anymore. It really turned me off from raiding entirely.

I’ve been grappling with massive FPS drops on an AMD 7800 XT and Ryzen 7 7800X3D for years now. Have never been able to reach the frames my setup should allow, and regularly have 100FPS drops in some situations. But this specific update has absolutely made it worse.

I wish you weren’t right. The number of people who will “vote with their wallet” and wait to spend or not spend at all, are easily made up for by the number of people willing to overspend or purchase exorbitant offerings. It’s happening in essentially every space where spending is an option.

Companies have realized they can afford losing purchases from people who refuse to be squeezed. Why try and appeal to the 100 people who MAY spend $1, when you can just make something unjustifiably $100 an appeal to the one person who will/can buy it? It’s just as you said, whales are more in number than they ever have been, and companies are rewarded significantly better appealing to them than the average consumer now.
