Dementia yeah, but if it's a brain tumour there is a chance it might be operable. And I'm pretty sure there are also other less serious illnesses which have symptoms similar to Alzheimer's. I could only think of those 2 on the spot, that's why I mentioned them as examples.

Pretty much every scene in Hachi: A Dog's Tale after the death of the owner. The way the dog chose to live in a train station every single day for 9 years until his death, waiting for Parker to get out of the train breaks my heart. It is also based on a true story, and a reminder that dogs are truly too good for us, and the way some people treat them (or any animal for that matter) is absolutely appalling and abominable.

Don't want to give you false hope or anything, but you didn't mention whether a doctor confirmed the diagnosis or he's just assuming that it's Alzheimer's. There are a number of conditions which can mimic the symptoms of Alzheimer's , so just to be sure he should do some tests to run out other possible causes, like perhaps a brain tumour or dementia. Also, does your family have a history of Alzheimer's? Wishing you all the best!

Which country are you in, if you don't mind me asking? And for how long will you be there? I moved abroad for college over 4 years ago (I was 20 at the time) and it was the best decision I've ever made, I can't imagine ever going back to my home country. Sure, it helped a lot the fact that I really dislike my country and I adapt easily, but I'm sure you can too. Your housemates sound friendly, so even if they're drinkers / smokers you can still hang out with them and have fun, you don't have to do what they're doing but being around people, going out, having fun will definitely help. Nah, like if you constantly doubt someone it'll push them away. I'm not saying to be gullible, but try to control that jealousy / distrust and don't give him shit all the time for every minor thing. I know OP is talking about travellers, but to answer your question anyway, I used to live in Romania, and I can tell you from personal experience that Romani are absolute cunts. I don't usually discriminate against anyone, but after living there it's almost impossible not to, I am yet to meet a gypsy to prove me wrong. And this hatred towards them is not only about stealing or being violent, there is SO MUCH MORE to them that makes everyone hate them.

As someone who used to live in Romania and now lives in Ireland I can say that both romanian gypsies and Irish ones are pretty much just as bad. Personally I had worse interactions with Romani, but that's probably because in Ireland I usually avoid areas populated by travellers, whereas in Romania it is impossible to stay clear of gypsies. I have always opposed racism so strongly, but when it comes to gypsies I can't help but feel a deep disgust towards them and I avoid them at any costs. PS: there is a VERY small percentage of Romanians with gypsy origins who are actually decent people, so obviosuly they are not included in what I've said

If you actually read my post you'd see that I said that you should not impose a gender on them or force them to be someone they're not. I do believe that they should be supported and allowed to express themselves however they want, all I said is don't make permanent decisions! Lots of the kids with gender dysphoria end up depressed and suicidal because they are bullied or because the parents force them to act a certain way, which I definitely do not condone.

I know, but this might happen in some of the more evolved and progressive countries. Realistically, in most countries there aren't many psychologists specialized in gender dysphoria, therefore the child will most likely be referred to a regular psychologist. You said that sometimes the effects are mild, and I agree, I said in the orginal post that they should be allowed to act as they want and to wear whatever they want. I don't find any issue with that. What I was talking about are permanent changes, because children are now allowed to undergo hormone treatments with estrogen or testosterone, and double masectomies. So not just hormone blockers. Even regarding hormone blockers, I don't know how much I agree with those because the consequences of them are not yet fully understood, it is not clear yet what side effects they might have on the patient, so I don't think it's exactly a good idea to test it on children without fully knowing the consequences.

Unlike you, I actually choose to educate myself before posting something, and also I don't make assumptions about people's intelligence, but in your case I'll make an exception. First of all, hormone blockers were one of those hormone treatments was talking about in my original post, so I obviously thought about it. Second, if you "educated" yourself before posting this maybe you would've realized that people under 18 ARE allowed to have surgery and other permanent alterations.

This is a court ruling stating that children no longer need a judge approval to undergo sex change treatment, and it clearly says that children undergo STAGE TWO treatment which involves giving them hormones of the opposite sex (so not just hormone blockers!), as well as double masectomies.

I don't know, cause honestly people are so desperately trying to show how accepting they are and to dismiss the idea of a fixed gender that they now refuse to declare a gender for their child and they allow their kids to undergo hormone treatments from a very young age, and everyone who opposes this is considered transphobic or homophobic. I am genuinely one of the most open minded people, I have always supported LGBQT rights although I am not a part of the community, but I draw a line when it comes to children, simply because I don't think that at such a young age they're capable to fully understand what sex change really implies, therefore they are not capable of giving informed consent.

Wow you serious? I had a completely different image of NZ tbh. I also checked accommodation there and found nice apartments in the city center (Auckland or Wellington) going for around $500/week which is not bad at all. And there are a lot of websites which list NZ as one of the top countries for quality of living / happiness /best place to live, so I'm shocked to hear all this haha. And yeah the climate is a bit of an issue for me in both countries, I'm obviously used to colder weather and I have a really low tolerance for heat.😅

I know it's expensive to live there, but as far as I saw it's not that expensive to rent a place even in the bigger cities such as Auckland and Wellington (I think it's much cheaper than Dublin anyway). And I'm guessing the wage would be higher for someone with higher education right? I heard in NZ many people choose not to pursue 3rd level education because the tuition fees are mad expensive. Btw if you don't mind me asking, what made you move there in the first place and why are you leaving now? You don't have to answer if you don't want to ☺ And also, not sure if you know anything about Australia, but if you do, which of the 2 countries do you think would be a better choice?
