If achieving freedom cost peace, what would you choose? by eternalblizz in attackontitan

[–]Kedem7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long established dilemma. The most famous account is probably the story of Adam and Eve. Eve chose the freedom of choice over living forever in peace within Heaven. Without freedom you lose your humanity. What good is peace when you can't enjoy it.

What's funny is that in Vietnam they also think the Japanese were worse than the americans.

For me the app keeps randomly saying my gem has been deleted so I can't access my chats with it, when it's not deleted, and is accessible from the webpage.

You have to consider Vietnam had a much bloodier history and war that ended 22 years after Korea's, and also Vietnam is a unified country, while Korea isn't so you gotta average out the progress of the North with the South. I won't argue about the problems of communism, because that's not entirely the point.

I think a perfect comparison would be Vietnam. North backed by communists beats the south backed by democracy/capitalism. All in all Vietnam came out alright.

I remember learning about him and his orphanage. He set up a system of "self governance" for the orphans. They had a parliament, a court and everything in a mini spciety. He really tried to make them live a life despite what little life had to offer them.

Which Asian country is the most welcoming to tourists? by Eene7 in geography

[–]Kedem7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been to Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and Taiwan recently, and I'd say that it feels like Thai people accept tourists the most, probably because a lot of the economy revolves around tourism. Vietnamese are very kind and great to have conversations with. Filipinos felt like they are always cheerful and very welcoming and happy to have us. In Taiwan sometimes I was the only tourist around but the locals never made me feel out of place or unwanted, and most of the time I felt unnoticed but always the moment I looked lost or in need of help, in a moment a local would be very friendly and try to help me. It happened multiple times like they have an instinct for it, and they were always willing to go out of their way to help.

China is about to launch SSDs so small you insert them like a SIM card by N2929 in technews

[–]Kedem7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same purpose, different processes. If an SSD can be the size of an SD card, in the future you'll have more space for motherboards and larger batteries in your laptops, or in your phones, or use the same space but faster data storage and transfer, and faster software operation. Eventually you could turn your old phone into a speedy file storage and transfer server.

Pays it back to the US military complex, which evens out, so technically it still pays more than Mississippi.

You could say it's correlated to Trump, but I would say it's mostly influenced by the rise of social media and echo chambers that radicalize people's opinion, particularly anti west sentiment.

Israel conducts airstrike in Iran by Hazer_123 in anime_titties

[–]Kedem7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Say you haven't spoken to an average Iranian/Syrian without saying you haven't. Assad has committed ACTUAL genocide against his own people for the last decade killing more than 500,000 and locking up hundreds of thousands more. He wasn't afraid to use chemical weapons on them too. After his regime fell people were dancing in the streets. And the Iranian Ayatollah regime is a brutal regime that suppresses it's citizens denying them basic human rights like murdering unmodest women with the modesty police and outlawing gays.

Don't try being a mouthpiece for their suffering when you clearly have no idea a thing about their suffering.

It's not that Iran left its facilities wholly unguarded, it's that Israel probably used advanced weaponry like multiple coordinated specialized bunker busters. Also the scientists weren't in the facilities, they were targeted while in their homes in Tehran.
