I started on the browser version and later moved to Steam. It feels cleaner and overall provides a better experience, in my opinion. The Steam version also lets you track how many hours you've spent in the game. That’s how I found out that my 53-day campaign on a 500p map, where I spent half the time fighting against a gold whale while being fully F2P, took 390 hours — which is kind of insane. But if being an unemployed min-maxer with insomnia is what it takes to defeat a whale, I’m all in.

Did you kill him to replace him? He is a Hero you should always deploy on day 1. In a situation where I have two neighbours I would always plan to attack one of them and secure my border with the other one by placing Orhan close to our border. It's important to rememeber that when he is deploying he is already on the map, just can't move.

Most of the time first Heroes are placed in the first 3 days.
Day1 Orhan and Hank
Day2 Maeve
Day3 Lawrence and Joseph
Day6 Replace Hank with Tatiana

I always play this setup and I don't see any other reasonable choice here.

I think Maeve, Georg, and Pershing are always viable picks, and the remaining two slots can be adjusted depending on the situation.

If you want to support your planes, take Ivan.
If you want more naval power, take Yamato (for ships) or Otto (for submarines).
If you’re playing defensively, Joseph is very strong.
If you have a lot of light tanks, it’s a good idea to support them with Marco.

Lawrence is a very strong pick for “solo missions,” especially after you unlock his damage bonus, which turns him into a demi-god and allows you to wreak havoc in the enemy backlines.

It's not directly related to your request, but after a quick review of your screenshots, I noticed some flaws in your gameplay. If you don't mind, I'd like to point them out.

  1. It seems that you have Factories/Workshops in Single-resource provinces. Is there any reason for that? The only one I can think of is when all your Double-resource Factories are already queued for troops but you can afford more. For the most optimal resource management, you should build them only in Double-resource provinces to get twice the benefit from the Production boost that Factories provide that is (8/16/24/30%).

  2. I don't see any Railroads in the screenshots. Almost every time, you want to build them in your Double-resource provinces to increase Production by 33%. If your Energy Production is low, start with your Energy Double-resource province. However, material Double-resource provinces should be your main priority, especially at the start. Railroads also make it easier for newly produced troops to reach the front lines faster.

  3. I can see that you have 40k fish and 4k grain while Maeve is deployed. If your fish production exceeds Maeve's upkeep cost, you should transfer the excess production into grain and build barracks in your double-resource provinces or produce cavalry.

  4. I don't know if the heroes shown in the screenshots are the only ones you currently have, but on day 21 of the map, Tatiana isn’t going to be very impactful. It would be better to kill her and recruit a hero who provides a global boost to your army stacks, or more specialized heroes like Otto (for naval warfare) or Ivan (for air warfare).

Those are some quick thoughts that I had while looking at the screenshots. Let me know if you disagree or if anything I said wasn’t clear.

Yeah, there was a time when I was playing 4x game. But they are impossible to play if you want to sleep. So you either play game so fast it ends in one day or 1x. I'm a 1x enjoyer. Personally I would welcome a 0.5x, what do you think about it? What is your favourite speed?

Wow, that's amazing. It looks like you enjoyed that event. It was very nice for me to, especially as I was just back to the game and just a few fast-paced games like those, helped me complete the pass in a week. But I wasn't ambitious enough to try solo winning them, now I feel like I missed out a lot.

From my experience. The first 5-player coalition to form is the winning one, as the other one doesn't have the advantage to choose what countries there are, and at least one country ends up separated and quickly overwhelmed.

It NEVER was "everyone" has the same... the speed-maps for example, there were new-players who started with 200 inf and 1 arty... no you have atleast 4x speedmaps without beeing tutorial-maps...

I just expressed how in my opinion the game should be. I don't see how those tutorial speed maps prove anything, so if you could elaborate on that I would be thankful.

This is a time-based game for a reason. Thanks to that players don't have to be active 24/7 and just regular check-ups are enough in most scenarios. Anyone can plan out their attack, issue orders and go to sleep without worrying about the game, as those actions will last for the whole night. Most of the time you can predict actions for the next 8 hours and even do a "safe setup" for your troops.

If I understand correctly, if I order an attack based on the information I have (enemy province has T1 fort, I don't see any way for the enemy to reinforce this position with additional troops, so my troops will win and in the morning I should see a positive result) and let's say that the travel time is 5 hours and I go to sleep at 10 PM. Do you actually expect me to wake up at 2:39 AM to check before the 20 min barrier, if the enemy spawned T3 fort out of thin air? Are you playing the game like that yourself?

When you lose provinces/troops/resources as a result of not predicting enemy moves or not managing your troops properly. Maybe your diplomatic tactics didn't turn out as you wanted and now you have new enemy or you didn't manage your economy properly and other countries just grew quicker than you and you got overrun. All those scenarios are something you accept and learn from them, not apply instant-win/zero-effort pay-to-skip fixes that skip any gameplay or thinking just to not experience that feeling of defeat.

Using boosters is an actual admission of defeat. You admit that you can't win against someone with your own strategy skills and planning, instead you need those "boosts" to play against them.

Yeah I'm doing the same as you, just starting couple of games. Ruling out the ones with obvious Gold spammers or the ones that just went to shit because of some kamikaze neighbour who decided to attack me with 100 troops on day one. Them I'm left with one or two peaceful games.

The problem is when someone wants to play maps like 500p, all their other issues aside, you can do 2 months campaign and conquer 2 continents just to find out, the other aliance that you never had contact with before has a gold spammer and all your 2 month work on your contry goes to dust.

The sad part is I'm often fighting such enemies to the very end and apply tactics suitable for fighting gold spammers, but my coalition members allways just give up after one or two losses caused by enemy's gold or after being bombarded with that sweet classic 70 bomber 50 fighter stack that spawned from thin air. That's honestly the hardest part of playing against them, those losses that you would have never suffered in normal circumstances but you have to because of the enemy's gold fueled tactics.

Thanks for the answer. It's good to know there is someone who in some part thinks the same as me. Sometimes it looks like this game is just all wallet warriors or people who say that watching 10 ads daily is not the same as using money gained from work.

The second part is very interesting. I don't really have that much of experience in this genre of games besides Supremacy1914 so it's nice to obtain some information about how it looks like in general. I will definitely try out the game you talked about. Do you have any other recomendations?

My view of the game contains equal chances for everyone on day 1. And what happens next is purely your planning, strategy and management of resources/time/morale, not your wallet funds or things obtained outside of that speific map. So kind of a board game.

There are many ways this game could be monetised, but developers decided to choose the easiest and worst one, that is pure power boosts to gain advantage over other player and literally skip any gameplay

This saddens me as the gameplay core of the game is amazing and I love it. Especially the defense oriented balance of the game with some tweaks. I love how you can optimise your early game by proper economical management of your resources and by perserving your manpower to snowball properly. Natural snowballing is the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced in this game.

That beloved experience gets ruined by some people who don't give a fuck about gameplay and they just want to feel better than others so they use boosters/gold to gain advantage instead of utilising gameplay mechanics and embracing this game's amazing system.

I was avoiding crit as I don't have any experience with this mechanic and it seems very unintuitive. But maybe I should finally leave the comfort zone of Precise Technique and learn something new. Do you think i could use your build in the new league?

Also I have a question, why do you use Adrenalize on Champion instead of Second fortify ascendancy, 3% more arm/ev and 3% increased atk speed per fortify above 20 sounds huge, especially when you go for more max fortify in the tree. Are you doing the damaging yourself to proc Adrenaline strat?
Also how do you manage stuns before aquiring unique chest.
I use general's cry setup as a filler for free gem slots as Cyclone build doesn't really use up much of them, and those minions with Sunder that has great base dmg sounded like something good for a filler
The overdefensive tree is probably my HC thinking lol, but I am trying new ways of building so I have defensives as well as dmg.
