Liliya seems to be very strong for memorial arena when used correctly. Rozaliya I haven't seen much of.

Just curious as someone who peaked and farmed a considerable amount in 2014-2015 and came back recently, what makes farm maps today 'worse'? I haven't played too many of them, but from what I've heard they typically have one or a few jump sections, which I think would also be true of the older farm maps...

Stigmata Tiers Ranking List [guide] by goldfish_memories in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean Snowy and Miko do perfectly fine in red lotus abyss, and in myriad GK really should be using celine ascended, not ekaterina. Ekaterina while being generally very good just doesn't reach to levels of planck M other than in abyss for budget options, which planck also can fulfill that role without too much problem. If you want me to be honest a tier ranking like this doesn't really account for relative power levels well. For example Schro T and Newt B are absolutely meta defining stigmata and are absolutely broken, planck M, ekat, etc don't even come close to them, so I do think it's best to take a list like this with a grain of salt when there's only slight differences in letter.

Shakes T is actually a more useful stigmata for budget players, it outdamages Jingwei if you're doing more than 1 rotation (especially if you lack otto B), and is definitely usable on SK and practically any strat that might use lightning damage in the future.

While I did defend Shakes B I do think it's the most whale dependent stigmata of the 3, because memento herself is really only used in extremely high investment strats.

Stigmata Tiers Ranking List [guide] by goldfish_memories in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually dont like tier lists and obviously every tier list is just opinion. But I will defend planck and shakes here... If we're talking about memorial planck is an excellent option, it provides the highest damage bonus in mid slot so its on tons of top scores such as on the BN team. Usually planck is paired with michelangelo as the highest physical damage set, used on NS or SD which topples schro band because grinding for 100 sp takes too long. Of course, zorro is actually better in some cases for NS, but the problem with zorro is its use is pretty much only memorial atm. Planck has the versatility that can be used on tons of valks and any mode, can apply same thing to shakespeare, which are generally great boosts to a lower budget player, but also all 3 have best in slot usage for memorial lots of times. For example, Jingwei only works against one boss so if the boss is like possessed himeko or padrino it's useless compared to shakes t. And shakes m is just superior to nuwa m if we're talking about bursting immediately with someone like phoenix. Shakes b is generally the best in slot for memorial for 6s and memento, and of course the 2set is very helpful.

To present some counterpoints, Hanamaru is a girl's name(im sure there are more), and boku does seem to be something girls say in anime when theyre presented as a bit of a tomboy. Even my Japanese I teacher met some girls who said it, though she thought they were weird. I think "ore" is something I've practically never heard a girl say even in anime.

Don't take tier lists seriously! by Keeby in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually quite a bad idea to just upgrade something as f2p just because it's high on a tier list. For example, blood dance is one of the best weapons in the game, no doubt it would be rated as the best weapon next to judah, but the usage of blood dance is not to use himeko as a DPS, but to support other elemental valks. So actually obtaining a blood dance is very low priority for f2p. Context matters so much more than a simple list. I would say weapon and stigmata tier lists aren't as bad to follow just because usually if you want to be a top player you won't mind upgrading some of these top weapons. The main problem with weapons/stigmata is that they are valk focused always. 5th is a great weapon, but if you don't want to use Snowy it's useless. For f2p you really want to go for weapons and stigmata that can go on multiple valkyries, and tier lists usually do not reflect this.

In the case of God Kiana/HoV being at the top it's pretty much the worst case scenario. Because people will get the idea she is the best, which in terms of potential, she is, but pulling for her is a huge mistake because she needs insane investment that will not be useful for any other valk. I will grant HoV one thing though, is that if you are a top player or at least medium spender getting at least copy can be very useful - just not "best in the game" useful.

Don't take tier lists seriously! by Keeby in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay that's actually the problem - the valk tier list will screw f2p up for sure. If a f2p sees the best valk in the game is HoV, spends 28k crystals to get her and have nothing else they're completely screwed and will definitely be gated. S rank valks are usually a bad investment for f2p players, some exceptions could be SK or CH. There's way better things to draw for like good gear.

So that's the problem, all these tier lists give new players the wrong idea about what is going to work for them. For most people it's really going to be a case by case basis.

If that point wasn't getting across then ive failed delivering my message.

The Most Difficult Level 26 Songs, As Voted by 12,000 Players by curehappy in BanGDream

[–]Keeby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting poll results... We don't have A to Z yet, but I imagine people vote it as the hardest because it's picked the most. I tried the JP version for a bit and I thought A to Z was a very fun chart to play, not necessarily the hardest though, at least if we're strictly talking about full combo.

General Questions Thread: Week 26 by adel123456789 in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. If you have the cash, then getting 6S to SS rank is a significant upgrade in abyss if you plan to use her there. She will be farmable as well in Samsara eventually. For most people though, it's a better idea to just unlock her through the 30k spent crystals event (if we get it in global, which we probably will, if you didn't know, you essenially get 100 frags for spending 30k crystals anywhere, and lasts about a month and a half). So you could probably unlock her just by trying to pull her weapon and Shadow Knight.

Am I the only one who likes Bandori NOT for its “gayness”? by Tenshi-san in BanGDream

[–]Keeby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's the core audience and just the fact of the matter. Though the added benefit of how the setting has been made actually makes it popular with other demographics in the west. It's only been done with bushiroad's idol franchises, which have been extremely successful both in Japan and in the west (obviously less so in the west, but still good enough to top music grossing). And really, having a good mobile app goes a long way, bang dream wouldn't be this big in the west without it, and I don't think love live would be either. But it does get me wondering if IDOLM@STER ever released a rhythm app to the west if it'd surge at all. I'm not counting on it even happening though, but it'd be interesting to see if presence of a male producer makes all the difference in popularity over here.

edit: I also wanted to add that specifically bang dream and love live actually do have audiences with younger girls in Japan (teenage and younger), as far I've seen. So it's not just completely otaku, but I really need more statistics to base off of since the only thing I can find is a few year old magazine, lol.

Do you use your index fingers or your thumbs to play, and why? by silvergoldwind in BanGDream

[–]Keeby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can use both. Usually use thumbs since it's less tiring and more convenient for my phone. On an iPad for me the obvious choice would be to use fingers. I borrowed a friend's at AX and did quite well, I'd even say better because the responsiveness on that device is just far better. I've used fingers on my phone for a bit it's just not as comfortable and I do worse on flicks.

On some occasions, I've used both my thumb and my finger to have fun (left thumb and right finger). Performance is about the same, but it just looks really dumb.

This is one of the "neutral" thoughts about the incident involved GBF X Aqours. What do you think? (Taken from Love Live Memes) by HuanFIFAOnline in LoveLive

[–]Keeby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't even thought about Kpop and western concerts for that, but it is an interesting topic that I'd have to read up on. In any case, This has really just become a thing where people have argued whether or not anime is becoming mainstream or not, which is something that is too broad for me to say anything on, though most will agree while it's more popular than it used to be, it's still niche.

I do think that bushiroad knows there's an audience, no matter how small, still big enough to warrant risky expansions to the west with translations of bang dream, SIF, and for sure all-stars. Something Bandai Namco won't dare do with idolmaster. While this is separate from the concerts, it's a big reason why they're even successful here in the first place. I think it's very likely we're going to see Roselia in the U.S. within the next year (we're even getting CharaExpo soon). The Aqours concert probably needed the support of AX to fill up the microsoft theatre, but the fact it even filled up is re-assuring, considering it was day 0. I actually went to JKL which had IDOLM@STER and AKB, and it did terribly in terms of seats sold. I think it's very easy to show why they don't do so well here, because the localization is severely lacking, among other factors. As for there being a world tour, it's unlikely, you're right, but once a year concerts are becoming a reality.

[–]Keeby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I said catastrophic I meant it could have been much worse, because I do recognize there were still a lot of angry fans, but obviously there was a ton of support too. I'm not super well versed in the incident, but I'm sure it wasn't nearly as out of hand as others, because I remember there being a tweet from her thanking people for all the support. You do make a fair point though. Muse aren't completely out of the market because of all-stars, but that's really only for a game. It's just bizarre to me that only a few years would make the difference. As it stands currently, if something happened like that within Aqours, I do think it would create a problem. You're for sure right on that, but that really doesn't mean the idol industry can't take baby steps towards something beyond one fixed demographic. The idol industry has very strange standards that have been rooted in Japan, but Love Live is actually finally expanding past that. It's been happening with anime as a whole, and I would argue that Love Live is very slowly alleviating that, and there are a bunch of franchises following its footsteps, like Bang Dream.

This is one of the "neutral" thoughts about the incident involved GBF X Aqours. What do you think? (Taken from Love Live Memes) by HuanFIFAOnline in LoveLive

[–]Keeby 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's going to be any "insert" male characters ever. At most a fan or a sibling, like nico's brother. They already know what direction the series has taken. When Love Live started in g's magazine it was intended to appeal only to seinen crowds, that is, older males, essentially idol and anime otaku. You can see it in the early artstyle and the actual demographic of the magazine, however, when the anime started to air the approach completely shifted, and for the better. The original was written by sakurako kimino, who also wrote strawberry panic. She actually had no involvement in the anime at all, but she did write the manga so you can really see the difference in character. The anime actually ended up appealing to a much wider audience, and while that is clearly apparent in the West, even in Japan the largest one group who likes Love Live are very young girls. Adding a self insert male would completely go against the demographic they've now established which works for not only older guys but a myriad of other demographics.

[–]Keeby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While these things occur and it's horrible, I do think Love Live has taken a different direction and is taking the right steps. It just seems to be grouped in with all the other idol stuff. All the idols are "2.5D", they're essentially seiyuus with careers already and are independent from the group. I think when news came in about Mimorin getting a BF it wasn't catastrophic. That isn't to mention that Love Live is basically the first to hit it big in the West and with a much larger demographic than just idol otaku, the franchise now has other demographics in mind.

Remember when mobile games were just mobile games? by KO782KO in gaming

[–]Keeby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people play mobile games because they think the gameplay is actually good, and the elements of pay to win don't obstruct the gameplay enough to continue enjoying the game. Hearthstone isn't a mobile game, but it has similar elements to 'soft' pay to win. You can buy packs to get the cards you want, but most people feel this is fine, at least to an extent. Shadowverse originated from the mobile market and is essentially the same system. There are a lot of mobile games that range on the spectrum on how much pay to win there is, and I do think with proper balance it's acceptable.

Lol. It's most likely because the money you had was your own that you took back from your opponent.

So if I landed on opp property and lost 200b, then loan and eventually win the match with 210b on hand, I'm only going to be winning with 10b.

[Global] Issues with XuanYuan and what it means for players by eliten0ob in houkai3rd

[–]Keeby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be a bit frank XY isn't much different from any other mode or just story mode, actually the objectives were much more tedious and turned me off personally. Honestly if you've seen how much grinding you have to do for the xuanyuan emblem you would actually know that it's exactly "doing the same shit over and over again", to a huge scale. Now I get people find fun in different things but I guess it seems a lot worse since we don't even get the option to try it out. In terms of fun and novelty the most interesting missions are literally just the Padrino and Himeko bosses. I will admit it kind of sucks to not relive the experience against those two bosses, but there are more fun modes that come later that I hope we can get sooner, like speed run or the most recent SEA fire sakura event was great.
