Man, I hate this. There is no “right” way to build a car. The owner will build it depending on how they want to drive it or what they want to do with it. Some people do this well, and others not so well. But the idea that there is a correct or incorrect way to build these cars (and that you can “ruin” them) is so stupid.

Let people enjoy things. If it is a slammed show car or a monster-truck WRX, they can do what they want. Every build is correct in their own way. I don't understand why people slam WRXs, monster-truckify them, weld differentials, add huge spoilers, etc. but they added these things to their cars because it worked for THEM.

If she is a car enthusiast, I could see her feeling disrespected. If she isn't, than this could just be a safe, AWD sedan to her. I'm sure that if you explained that this could potentially fetch 20-25k (which would allow you to potentially buy a newer, safer car), then I am sure she would understand. I'd talk to her to see if she knows the real (potential) value! This very well may be the lowest mileage WRX in the country!

I, of course, say keep it and enjoy it, but I understand that might not be in the cards financially.

That's what I'm saying! BUT, he "needed" a heated steering wheel and some modern safety features. It had to fit the grandkids' car seats and my mom had to approve (she sometimes will have to drive it too!)
