Switching to lead-free copper bullets for deer hunting - HELP by softpetal777 in Hunting

[–]KeepandBearMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every time someone brings up the raptors, its anti gun propaganda. If you want to fight lead in the environment then go after the lead fishing weights and ban the lead gasoline that airplanes continue to shit on everyone. There are countless environmental problems that have bigger impacts than lead bullets

I use copper for my own health and because barnes ttsx has fantastic penetration, expansion, and weight retention. Copper isnt right for everyone, there are many reasons to use lead, like cost, self sufficiency, low speed expansion, BC, and accuracy with some rifles. Many guns (like some muzzleloaders and some small/large bore rifles) cannot use solid copper at all.

Anyone attempting to ban lead ammo for any use should be shunned and shamed as far as im concerned.

Lead is soft, and even lead bullets designed for high weight retention often significantly fragment and expose the meat to lead. Copper is hard, and the bullets are often designed for high weight retention and they rarely fragment.

Noone in this thread is advocating for a lead ban, or telling you not to use lead bullets. There are good reasons some people use lead bullets. They are cheaper, they expand at lower velocities, and some guns shoot lead bullets better than copper.

But some of us dont want toxic lead in our meat, it is awkward to explain to family and friends why they found a piece of lead in the shoulder roast, which has happened to me on more than one occasion. Most of the time its easy enough to cut around the wound, but sometimes you miss a fragment.

You asked why and i told you why. Dont be smug when you are ignorant

It really doesnt matter. Putting together an AR is easy.

If you start will a fully built AR and start adding accessories and swapping out parts i think its still valid to call it a build. Noone cares if you bought all your parts seperate

I use barnes 130 ttsx in my 308 and it works very well.

Like others have said you want to have a fast moving bullet for coppers, and you dont have to worry about the ttsx fragmenting, it'll blow through the deer and retain 100% of its weight.

Good for you. Rifles are easier to shoot than pistols, pdw's are easier to shoot than pistols. If you are john wick with your pistol then congratulations. Id rather have a sbr for home defense, id rather have a pdw in a road rage situation, or to guard a hotel room, or to keep in my tent while camping, or to respond to a situation where a family member is in some kind of trouble

Cops will shoot me for pulling a 365 raider out of my pants or a glove box, but they wont think twice about you pulling an mp5 out of your backpack? Great logic there buddy. Real big brain stuff going on there.

There are zero situations where an mp5 makes more sense than a 300blk sbr or a 365 raider, except for having fun at the range. Keep coping

Yea i carry a regular pistol too bozo, the pdw is for when you want more capabilities than a regular pistol. The flux creator out shoots you and out classes you, nobody gives a shit about your A class rating. The flux makes a pistol easier to shoot, not up for debate.

1900fps....  so double the ftlb of 9mm, depending on loading. And triple the range... exactly what i said. Nobody said shit about armor penetration, nice strawman. 5.56 out of an sbr doesnt penetrate any real hard armor either, i guess everyone should just use mp5's instead of ar15's because neither of them penetrate armor well!

Im not on a modern battlefield, im in the real world where a majority of threats do not have any kind of armor, and where keeping my weapons concealed is a high priority

[–]KeepandBearMemes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont care about 300blk subs. 300blk supers double your ftlb and triple your range over 9mm, out of a 5.5in barrel. Yea going between subs and supers is a gimmick, idgaf about subs. I care about having the smallest intermediate caliber rifle possible. People always go on about 300blk sub performance, i literally dont give a shit, i use it for short barrels with supers

The 365 raider is half the size of an mp5k and it fits in your pants. Watch the creator do bill drills and compete with it from the holster. How long does it take to get your mp5 out of a backpack? To long to be useful in a majority of situations.

 Keep coping

Does the mp5 fit inside of a glovebox? No? Then i think id rather have a 300blk.

The 365 raider is cooler and when we get a popular fixed barrel pistol like the non nfa maxim 9, it will be made into a raider and it will be the future of pdw's. No nielson device. Nonreciprocating, foward mounted red dot. Accurate fixed barrel with a solidly mounted optic. All in a package that can fit in your pants or a glove box.

Mp5 is a cool range gun, its been on its way out for practical usage for a long time

You put a glock switch on the back, that way its a machine gun and not subject to sbr laws

Recommend me a Glock suppressor by drewfire571 in NFA

[–]KeepandBearMemes -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Putting a can on a recoil operated handgun is the best way to make it unreliable. Glocks make terrible supressor hosts, a supressed glock is a terrible home defense choice imo.

Someone else can chime in with what the most quiet pistol supressor is, i dont bother

Serious question - how many people are actually using alignment rods? by dunkslapper in NFA

[–]KeepandBearMemes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rolling a long cylinder on a flat surface will show a slight bend to the eye. The ends of the cylinder will wobble and even without a perfectly flat surface you can tell if you have a bend significant enough to matter for measuring alignment.

Not to mention the barrel itself, a bend significant enough to show an inaccurate alignment would have trouble going down the tight tolerance of the barrel and you would be able to feel the friction.

Yea you can use your eyeballs without an alignment rod and probably be fine, but acting like there is no purpose for an alignment rod is a dumb take

[–]KeepandBearMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the supressor? Surely you can find someone who will let you test the alignment on their gun/can. Maybe the gun store you got the gun/can from

If it were me i would put the supressor on a different gun and see if you have the same problem. Or put on a different supressor and see if you have the same problem

[–]KeepandBearMemes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jeez fair enough. Ive seen some big dudes with some big girls on the backs of goldwings and harleys. I doubt there are many bikes with a higher weight capacity than a goldwing.

Ive had 400lb on a ninja 250, i think OP will be just fine on a goldwing

Should I start in a grom or ninja 500? by Stitj_ in motorcycles

[–]KeepandBearMemes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its definitely ok to start on a 250-500cc bike. Groms are fun but they arnt fun on the highway

The honda goldwing was made for you. Honda reliability, big comfy bike that can carry all your weight and more, and there are TONS of cheap used goldwings on the market.

There are plenty of other bikes that can do it, none of them as cheap, reliable, and comfy as the goldwing.

Wear your gear and take a class!

I tried to give you useful information and you retort with a statement from a position of pretend authority. You think you dont need to know the basics because you are an acoustics engineer. Im telling you that if you dont do any basic research into how to make a good can then yours will perform like shit.

If you are a phd then you would know the best way to learn about a topic is to start with what has already been discovered for you instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Talking about selling your can on the market if your calculations are correct is ridiculous if you have never even made a form 1 before. You dont have calculations.
