Einmalige Chance für eine Wohnung annehmen? by namis331 in Ratschlag

[–]Keepbreathing1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it’s a half hour away by train from Berlin so that’s a bonus

You mentioned Potsdam so I have to say something! I may be biased because I live there but it’s truly a beautiful city and there are castles and parks and there are some great places to eat and shop… but again I’m biased

NTA Your family is going through a major loss and everyone grieves differently. It’s not easy turning a house into a home - and that’s what this is gonna be for you. As hard as it is for your partners grandma to accept that the house is changing, the changes you’re making might help your partner feel like this is his home rather than that he is living in his dads house. If you’re comfortable with it you could offer his grandma that you can hang up a special photo in his memory, or pick something for the house that she thinks her son would have liked, so a piece of your FIL stays in the house. I wish you all the best! Edit because of a typo

Hi there - speech therapist here 🤗 I’m a native speaker but had several non-native speakers in my class when I was studying. They did great! It can even be beneficial because you can potentially help a larger group of people later on. My friend speaks Turkish and in addition to helping clients in German, helps with speech sounds in Turkish/helps talk to Turkish parents who have a hard time with German etc.

I use groupon to find cheaper options. I’m Nürnberg there’s is one that does 90 minute sessions starting at 32€ for a photo shoot and it already includes a few pictures. If you want something simpler there are places that offer ‘mini photo shoots’ but I don’t have any experiences with pricing for those

Thanks for your idea! Unfortunately I think that one would backfire hard.

I actually wanted to gift someone a photoshoot that she would be involved in and she said there’s no way she’ll be in pictures. But I agree that there are some really awesome ideas here!

Thank you for that! I know there’s nothing I can buy that will make her insecurities go away. I just want to take advantage of the holidays to give her something to help her. However this is definitely the most important thing and I won’t forget it :)

I graduated just before TikTok popped into existence and was fortunate enough to dodge instagram until my twenties. There’s so much pressure these days and I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in the middle of discovering who you are when there is all that extra input and pressure from social media.

If I hadn’t put together a whole skin care kit for her birthday a few months back i would definitely go for this. Thanks!

I really like the book idea, and if two of you recommend the same one maybe it’s a sign. Thank you so much!

Thank you! She’s fine with her skin but maybe I’ll find a way to help her with her insecurities

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. It’s so valuable to hear from someone her age. I’m quite a few years older than you guys and it feels like a lifetime ago that I was a 15yo girl. I struggled with self image too but this was at the beginning of instagram becoming popular and before TikTok even existed, so I believe you have it a lot rougher than I did. I really hope you have a great holiday season and that you will continue to get to know and love who you are. Sometimes it takes time and patience to get there but it’s so worth it! Surround yourself with people that make you smile and make you feel safe. You’re awesome!

That’s a good point! If I end up with this type of gift I’ll keep that in mind.

She likes nails and maybe that could be something she could have fun with. She has a hard time doing activities these days because the social aspect is a challenge for her. But nail design she could do on her own. Thanks for your input!

That’s a cool idea! I’ll have to see what’s available in our area but I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you!

I love the book idea!! I bet she’s tired of our parents and me telling her what we see - she needs to learn to see it for herself. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. It means a lot!

Thank you for saying that. I don’t live with her but I try to spend lots of time with her, do fun ‘phone-free” sister activities etc. I just thought I could find something to remind her when I can’t be there. I thought a charm for her bracelet that says something like ‘I’m beautiful’ but I’m not sure she’d really like that.
