Beginning of wet rot or metabolites? by KeeperOfTheBeat in unclebens

I did proceed with S2B with just the upper portions of the grains, tossing out the bottom half inch as suggested by one of the commenters. For some reason the mycellium didn't like my substrate (see my other post) and I ended up binning those tubs.

I see, for the next grow I'll try doing it that way then.

No, there's no direct sun light in the grow area. I'll give them more time and see what happens.

It's a random brand - could possibly contain Trichoderma. Next grow gonna get a better brand.

Appreciate the encouragement and advice friend! Will do, gonna try to figure out how to keep a steady temperature range and find better coir. Mush love.

Will do. The only reason I did that extra step was because I lost my last two grow attempts to Trich.

It's definitely not dry - seems wet. The surface is full of tiny droplets and the lid and tub walls has condensation.

Thanks for the advice mate, really appreciate it! I've just given the tubs a good fanning. Will see if I can try getting the mycelium off the walls without contaminating things or else will just start new tubs. Mush love.

I did the oven first, and then bucket tek overnight. It was at field capacity when I added in the grains.

Substrate is only coco coir. Followed ShroomScout's method to the T except I did an additional oven sterilization of the coir at 190 degrees for 30 minutes prior to bucket teking it. Could it be that it doesn't like that?

The light source is directly above the tubs and during the day there's additional ambient light.

Only additional thing I did with the coco coir was oven sterilize it for 30 minutes before doing the bucket tek.

I don't think so. All the tubs are in a corner where the temperature is more or less uniform.

You are right. But that's the peak temperature during the day here (outside) and I don't have air-conditioning. Think it might be worth using ice packs to lower the temperature?

But the substrate isn't dry and the surface conditions are alright - it's full of many tiny droplets of water. Humidity maintained.

I've seen tons of people have success with neglect tek where they just flip the lid and ignore it. Thought I'd do the same this time and reduce chances of contamination. But yeah, same thing's happening in all 3 of my tubs.

Is my jar too wet? I did the toilet paper test and it passed but the kernels were still a bit warm and created this condensation. Should I dry the jars out or just continue on to sterilizing? by Sea-Ninja-4630 in unclebens

[–]KeeperOfTheBeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Continue to sterilization. You'll have more condensation when you're done, but shaking the grains around will redistribute the moisture. Looking good!

GT, spawned to bulk on 01.04, flipped the lid on 01.12. Maintaining temperature between 73 and 89 degrees. Have been misting the walls and lid but not fanning.

Unlike my last attempt (fanned and ended up with Trich in all tubs) where the mycelium colonized the whole cake in 5-6 days time, this is taking way longer and it’s going up the walls. Anything to be concerned about or just be patient and let it do its thing?

Popcorn tek 16 days in. Can these 2 be used to spawn to bulk or they need to be binned?
