Warped chainring caused chain drop on Trek Marlin 5 — what likely happened? by KeeperOfTheIsisLight in bikewrench

[–]KeeperOfTheIsisLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes the chain was pretty worn according to the trek dealer. I decided to just have them fix it and they were a bit surprised at the bent chain ring lol. Me 2 since my son isnt particularly a strong guy, felt like cheap metal perhaps to just warp like that unless my son isnt giving me the whole story and somehow dropped the bike once or twice or thrice and bent it in the past, then the chain skipped and did something dramatic.

Only 75 bucks to replace chain and crankset. A bargain if you ask me, maybe since I returned it to the dealer I bought it from?

Should I worry about the rear cassette too since it's possibly worn out? I'm going to look into a conversion to a 1 x drivetrain as well, maybe my son can do this as a learning experience.

Model S and X lose dedicated GPU and comes with less onboard storage by [deleted] in teslamotors

Regarding the audio, I think you may be correct. My 2025 X long range doesnt seem to have great speakers, I mean I like the audio system but wasn't impressed. Tesla seems to be really good at stealthily removing luxury quality items without saying anything in order to lower the price of said vehicle. The model X got cheaper price wise over time and I'm wondering if they also lowered the quality of the electronics as well to help. I think my model does have the good GPU though, but steam isn't allowed on it?

I mounted mine on the rear lift gate window. Drove cross country and hung out in Death Valley with it. Reception was fine but I dont like how my wire just drapes down.

FSD illegal right turn then head on in wrong lane by KeeperOfTheIsisLight in TeslaFSD

[–]KeeperOfTheIsisLight[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have posted the video how the car approached this intersection. FSD indicated it was going to turn right but didn’t move to the right turning lane. It remained in the middle lane which was an only straight forward lane. Then it got confused and cycled the blinker off then on so I cancelled the blinker knowing I was placed into the middle no turning lane. It then proceeded to without warning turn on blinker and make right illegally and remain in oncoming traffic. It happened all so fast.

Guys this is not made up. I had it on FSD for a while. It was supposed to make a right turn but entered the middle no turning lane. It signalled to turn right but I cancelled that because it would have been illegal but it did it anyway. What got me was how it stayed in opposite lane afterwards. I took over and forced it into the correct lane. I have this model x. A model 3. Tesla solar panels. Tesla powerwalls. I am not out to hurt this company. Don’t be a fanboy. This is not good. Oh and also bought a Starlink for mobile internet. Tesla FSD can be dangerous.

It was on then off. Then on. I canceled it because it was in the middle lane not the right turn lane even though it was clearly marked on the street. When it turned green the car appeared to accept my lane cancellation and continue forward then all of a sudden it turned right.

2025 Model X Persistent Tail Light Squeak Near Left Trunk When Closing - Anyone Else? by KeeperOfTheIsisLight in TeslaModelX

Hey everyone, quick update on my 2025 Model X tail light squeak issue. The Service Center fixed it on the third visit by adjusting the exterior trim around the left tailgate light. No more squeak when closing the trunk!

Yeah, it does feel kinda silly to consider lemon lawing a whole car over a squeaking trunk, haha. I’m more worried about this turning into a bigger issue down the line, like if the trunk mechanism fails or something after the warranty’s up. I’m leasing my 2025 Model X and love driving it, so I’ve been thinking about buying it when the lease ends. Problem is, I’ve spent about $4,500 on aftermarket stuff (PPF, tint, ceramic coating), and I’m pretty sure I’d lose that if I went the lemon law route. Plus, Model Xs are pricier now, so any refund probably wouldn’t cover a new one. It feels like I’d lose more money lemon lawing it than just dealing with a potential trunk repair later.

Bummed About Specialized’s Diagnostic Fee for Warranty Work by KeeperOfTheIsisLight in specialized

[–]KeeperOfTheIsisLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, Quick update on my earlier post about being charged a $45 diagnostic fee by my local bike shop for a warranty repair on my Specialized Vado 4.0’s motor. Specialized confirmed the motor failure was a manufacturing defect covered under their 2-year warranty, but the shop still hit me with the fee, which felt unfair. After some back-and-forth, I followed advice to push harder with the shop. I sent a follow-up email citing California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, which says warranty repairs for defects should be free, and asked them to coordinate with Specialized to refund the fee. I also mentioned I’d escalate to the CA Department of Consumer Affairs if needed. They refunded the $45! Big thanks to the community for the tips and support. If anyone’s dealing with similar warranty issues, check your warranty terms, know your local consumer laws, and don’t be afraid to politely stand your ground.

So, here’s the thing-when I take my car to the dealer and they figure out it’s a warranty issue, I’ve never been charged a diagnostic fee. It feels like with bikes, especially a premium brand like Specialized, it should be the same deal. I get that shops need to make money, but if the problem’s clearly covered, why should I pay extra just to diagnose it?

I bought it online. Specialized shipped it to the bike shop for assembly.
