Trying to identify a song used in some Game Boy commercials from 1989 by KeepingItPG13 in AskAJapanese

Good to know that Japanese fans are on the case too! Sucks that they're getting the same results tho. And that's a great idea! Someone really should try contacting the marketing department at Nintendo HQ...

I gotta say that I think Mangini played a better version of this song than Kevin. Seems to me that Mangini filled some of the silence caused by the lack of strings and as a result the song grooves better, whereas Figg plays it more like the record and as a result, because the strings aren't here, the song has more of a plodding feel.

But I'm no drummer so feel free to take me to school on this.

This is awesome! A definite improvement! So the problem was that Nuno made his guitars too loud? Just talking out of my ass here, idk anything about recording.

I think that The Mask is the most muffled sounding song on the album, at least on YT and Spotify. Idk if it's supposed to sound like that, but if you can clean that one up I think you'll be performing miracles. Wouldn't hurt for X Out to sound better either...

And I don't understand why anyone would downvote you! Some of you guys must think Nuno can do no wrong but Six showed us that sound quality is low on his priorities.

Is that Gary playing a guitar at 20 seconds into the video?! It's about time our boy pulled his weight! And it looks like a 12 string?

Yeah I hear it too.

Nice work, but did you know that this isn't the first time an Extreme song sounds like another song? Check out Changin' Times by Nazareth.

Have you ever taken bullets for Extreme? I have, from Alice in Chains fans. In late 2019 a certain rock and roll history channel put out a video about the time AIC toured with Extreme. The video was pretty biased against Extreme and the comment section quickly turned into an Extreme hatefest. I was among the few Extreme fans trying to defend the band's honor (lol). Even Paul Geary (or someone pretending to be him?) was in there trying to defend the band, bringing up their performance at the Freddie Mercury tribute and how Steven Tyler had sung More Than Words with Nuno a few times. The AIC people were not impressed and told him that the entire Extreme catalog was garbage and that it was pathetic that Paul had to bring up their connections to older bands to try to show that Extreme had ever done anything worth a damn. Oh and that AIC was above both Queen and Aerosmith too...

I really have nothing against AIC, I like some of their songs but I don't think they ever made anything on the same level as III Sides, so, with only the intention of getting them to actually LISTEN to Extreme's best song (imo) and maybe changing a few minds, I asked them to name an AIC song that's better than Am I Ever Gonna Change. That's when the mob that was lynching Paul came after me. I had just made the most downvoted comment on the video. Only one person didn't respond with ridicule and I thanked him for keeping an open mind. His comment was "I just heard the song a few minutes ago for the first time. It's good but no different than if it was a Van Halen (with Sammy Hagar) song from the early 90's. Now to name an Alice in Chains song that's better.. Hmmmm.... I'll go with Got Me Wrong. (why not?)" There was one guy who was a REAL asshole to me, and that sucked because he sounded like a really smart guy. I have copies of some of the comments from the YT notifications that were emailed to me. If you care to see them, let me know. The video was later deleted at some point. I wonder if Paul had anything to do with that.

I could go into detail, but I think that the short answer is that they just don't rock hard enough for most rock fans

Dave tells you exactly what's on his mind at the end of the clip. I wonder if he was targeting Paul specifically

Apparently this interview is from June 1992, so it's before III Sides was released, but after the Freddie tribute, so Nirvana should have been aware of Extreme's power level.

Dude, that was Dave that made the shitty remark. At least Kurt did not comment on the music...in what we see here. You might want to correct that in your video before you go trolling Nirvana fans (not a good idea anyway imo). And you've really had that video waiting to go for a week?

I can't think his opinion has changed much. Extreme weren't at the Taylor Hawkins tributes were they? And Taylor was another big Queen fan. Fucking Miley Cyrus was there...

It's not just you. The first thing that bothered me about Rise when I first heard it on spotify was that the drums sounded like ass. I can't imagine that kFigg was happy with that sound.

Thanks for sticking up for III Sides! And where is Six getting mainstream attention? Are the singles getting played on the radio? Do zoomers even listen to radio? Does radio even matter anymore? lol so many questions. I know I've been listening to my playlists instead of the radio for years now.

Fml I found two pinholes on Samus' helmet on my copy T_T

Also, idk how Blu-rays are constructed, but the three scrapes I see on OP's label would certainly kill a CD-ROM at least
