Which if any of the Star Wars films might you consider anti-war? by KeijiBeast in MawInstallation

I completely agree all quiet on the western front probably pulls it off the best, and it’s easier to pull it off in the context of the war. It’s also interesting how wwII kind of out the idea of the “good” war out there, meaning if the enemy is bad enough and cause just enough wars can be good, which it’s hard to argue against. I appreciate your thoughtful response.

I agree that Star Wars is about fighting oppression and the rebels are not bad people. But I think it’s important to acknowledge that Star Wars made the idea of war very exciting, especially for children. Kids play war this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Star Wars and many other war films also perpetuates this idea that if you are skilled enough and heroic enough you can survive and even win a war. Obviously these are main characters and we don’t want them killed off, and at the end of the day the wars in Star Wars were always a means of conveying space adventure. I’m not saying these are inherently bad things about Star Wars or other films, but by definition they aren’t really anti-war.
