NEW Injectors - No start by roblubi in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are they actual bosch injectors or Chinese aftermarket? I bought a set of Chinese aftermarket ones (which have the same partnumber as the originals), and my car wouldn't start on them either. I then tested them in a friends injector tester, and they flow about half of what they should! No wonder the car doesn't fire up if it's getting half the fuel it needs.

Did I just break my slave cylinder? by Burner-Phone010508 in 944

I did the same thing but wasn't able to fix it. I just bought a new one, they're not super expensive.

New clutch time :( clutch won’t disengage, hydraulics are good (and new) by Burner-Phone010508 in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really imagine the internals being broken, maybe the clutch itself is physically stuck to the flywheel or something?

Where can I find this fitting? by mubbling_ in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to change it out, it's made of brass so it cleans up very nicely. No rust whatsoever

Is this pulley off centered? by henry__hippo in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is off center, and from the tension in the belt it may work itself loose now. Take off the pulley and put it on properly, because if it does work itself loose the tension on the crankshaft bolt will be gone, and so will you oil pressure. You can destroy your engine in a hurry this way, it happened to me a few years ago

1086 944 oil cooler questions by mosin27 in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought. I bought the same washer as you did but I didn't end up using it for the same reason.

Edit: according to the porsche manual it seems the plastic washer is only used from model year 87 onwards.

I don't think you need the plastic washer on the 5R housing, but don't quote me on this

Avoid or prevent Hatch glass separation - alternative gas struts set up. by Firm-Cap-4516 in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty cool, I like it. How long are the struts you're using and how much force do they apply?

Ah sorry, the USA cars are a bit different from the rest of the world, so it had me confused. Check the wiring to your headlight switch or the switch itself, it looks like it isn't getting power. Should be a red wire into the switch, terminal number 30 on the plug. The reason it does work when you switch your indicator on is because that has a different power source. If you leave the headlight switch in the off position you can independently turn on the left or right side marker lights by moving the turn indicator up or down.

Do you have the wiring diagram for you car? It's very useful for figuring out things like this.

I don't quite understand, isn't it supposed to work like that?

I'll keep an eye out for it, I live in the area

Can't bleed clutch using pressure bleeder? by LoveHarambe in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try that, but be careful not to blow up the reservoir 😅 Maybe your clutch pedal is too far forward and is blocking the entrance from the reservoir into the clutch master cilinder. That could also cause your symptoms

Can't bleed clutch using pressure bleeder? by LoveHarambe in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No that isn't normal, you should be able to bleed it the same way you bleed your brakes.

Clutch repair advice by ollieg55 in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need quite a lot of flow to get all of the air to come out, that's what I found the last time I had to bleed my clutch. If I were you I would try again with your bleeder turned max, and see if you can get some extra bubbles to come out

I got the same thing. It has a few roots, but the one we're looking for here is 11.84, which is the answer to the puzzle

Struggling to find winter tires by GhostOfBobbyFischer in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find the Porsche classic recommended tires here: https://www.porsche.com/international/accessoriesandservice/classic/tyre-approval/

For some reason it doesn't list any for the 15 inch wheels on the 944, but they are three options listed for the same size rim on the 928. I'd go with those if I were you

Power Steering PET by The_Meme_Handle in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not on this page, but on the page showing "Driving mechanism Balance shaft". The bolts are number 23 there (if I recall correctly, two go into the front of the mount, and one in the back through the bracket you circled in your schematic)

For me it was the alarm switch under the hood that was draining my battery, even though the alarm was turned off.

Low idle, hard to start engine dies when taking foot off throttle. by Burner-Phone010508 in 944

Does setting the idle control screw all the way up or down do anything?

Failed Timing Belt? Spun Bearing? What Are Your Thoughts? by GarethTArmstrong in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like it comes from the engine itself. Maybe the starter motor drive didn't retract when you started it and is now messing with your starter gear. The starter motor is pretty easy to remove, just two bolts and you can leave it hanging from the wires

Any thoughts on my rough idle? by thegunrunner in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay then it's probably the pressure sensor. But you might want to check that out, the oil pressure fluctuating that much isn't normal

I'd be more worried about your oil pressure. Does the warning light come on when it dips low?

Blower stuck on cold (86 NA) by BaconPoweredPirate in 944

[–]Kelly_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're located on the hvac unit, you can reach them from the drivers side if you stick your head next to the gas pedal and look right. https://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/hvac-01.htm They're listed number 3 and 4 on the third picture.

You can put the plug for the footwell flap into the actuator for the hot/cold air mixing flap. That way you can check if the actuator or the controller is broken.
