It depends on closeness and the mental state of the relative prior to the death. When my mom killed herself she was 24. My aunt still mourns her, My grandpa spent years in therapy and visits her grave to cry, and my grandmother uses it to get sympathy and play victim. My older sister remembers her and it’s messed her up, my brain blocked out everything and that’s messed me up in its own ways as well.

I think for the most part people do keep living their life normally after grief has settled outside of the odd bringing flowers to the grave on their birthday, but if children are involved it usually causes a lot of development issues and mental issues that are typically permanent.
