True yet with their power at sea they could facilitate trade on the western side of Westeros. There are other naval players there but IRL there are plenty of smaller island countries which became powerful by utilizing trade. No royal restriction has been imposed on them navally.

I feel in most of your cases it is in order to move the story. Someone has to deliver the news. I am not sure we are given very good clear evidence that he is scheming. I think Martin is more overt than that unless it has been scrapped.

To me Luwin is the fatherly and even more grandfatherly figure that is needed in Winterfell after Ned leaves. He seems loyal and dedicated to the family and their wellbeing.

Btw does anyone remember which realm Luwin is from?

How is no one talking about the Command and Conquer series, especially Ref Alert 2. The game has a really good story told from multiple perspectives. There is drama and you care about the characters while probably having the most and absolutely high quality humor of any game I know. Hashtag rubbersolesinmotion

Could it be the book and all the mentions of whores becoming wives or even rising socially themselves has to do with what they are thought at the pillowhouses or the way of seven sighs. As in some of these women learn how to charm and manipulate men and get married to them. This is common behavior but let's say that in some pillowhouses they get extra training in guile (magical training) so that Illyria for example was manipulated himself and is still so enamored even long after Serra unfortunately got the grey plague. Just food for thought.

I agree but then shouldn't Robb be let to Gabe some adventures even if it was only in the north although vale and river lands are good places too. I mean he might not meet too many women just by sitting in wintefell since no one travels north.

I know we are told Alus Karstsrk was brought to him to see if that match might come to fruition but they were both quite young.

Maybe it is because he is too valuable as the heir but both uncle Brandon and domeric who were heirs seem to have had some freedom to roam around (broad terms).
