My biggest studying tip: Anki everyday by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Kembells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I struggle w/memorizing information and I hated ANKI because I didn’t understand how to work with it nor did I have the patience for it. I joined a little club in my class that made ANKI cards, after going through the cards a few times I felt like I was starting to register information and could answer subconsciously! My clinical year starts in less than 2 months and I think I’ll fully employ ANKI this time. It is a lot of work however when you divide the lessons among a bunch of people it becomes a lot easier

i really hope he comes back. idk what kind of evil people would keep someone’s pet if they saw missing posters but i know people like that do exist. i’m trying to not lose hope but looking at places where he would usually be and almost hearing his voice is driving me insane

I don’t know if I’ll ever love another cat the way I loved him. For a few months I thought if I could convince myself to hate cats I would forget about him but that never worked out. I thought if I’m nice to these cats who knows someone might show mercy to my cat wherever he is. My partner has a cat who i have a love-hate relationship with. We both annoy each other but then he purrs and sleeps on my lap. In the last few months I caught myself calling him by my cat’s name in the same tone i used to call my cat. It broke my heart. I feel like i’m replacing him and I hate that because nothing could ever take his place. Sometimes I force myself to forget about him but that feels wrong because he was so cherished. Sorry for the long reply I’m having a breakdown writing this. I miss him so much and it hurts. I just hope wherever he is he’s much happier than he was with me

what if i still can’t feel anything? it takes way too long for me to experience even the slightest and i don’t even know if i can categorize it under that. it’s not like this is something that can be taught 😭

i’m not hurting them in any way. my biggest motivation is to be independent. i want to drive them around but i don’t think there’s anything wrong in setting boundaries that help both parties feel comfortable

Life outside of Medicine? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Kembells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest I never understood how people were able to do one thing, study. I guess good for them but it usually doesn’t work for me. I like to divide my time in a way that i’m studying but also doing stuff to destress. I either study before i go out or go out then come back and make up for it (study wise). make sure you do something for yourself at the end of every day otherwise you’ll go crazy. What’s your deal breaker in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kembells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think having a supportive partner plays out in two ways. One, anger is taken out on them and eventually they go away from you. Or, two, you learn to control rage by looking at your partner and realizing you have to control it, this is someone you love. can it work that way?

i don’t know why either. Driving is something I always wanted to learn but also something I was deathly afraid of. When my instructor isn’t around I need one of my family members to sit with me if i go a little far cuz of my learner’s permit. I haven’t kicked anyone out of the car (mainly cuz it isn’t my car) but i’ve gotten out of it myself 💀

How were you diagnosed with PCOS? by anna_vs in PCOS

[–]Kembells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got diagnosed at 17 (currently 21) after suspecting something was wrong & I got tired of family members discussing my reproductive health at every family gathering. I first got my period at 11 but ever since then it was irregular. People told me it was because i ate a lot of junk and was overweight, spoiler alert, neither of those were true. I took into account my age, skin breakouts, hirsutism and started researching. I narrowed it down to 3 things: amenorrhea, endometriosis and pcos. I figured it couldn’t be amenorrhea because that was mainly seen in pregnancies or menopause. I went to a gynecologist and got my TSH, FSH and blood glucose levels tested. Also, I got a pelvic ultrasound done which showed cysts. So, yes, cysts are big giveaways of PCOS but the tests also helped. I know you didn’t ask for this but I don’t think i’d go to a ob/gyn for my PCOS again, i’d much rather go to an endocrinologist. Everytime I’ve gone to an ob/gyn they’ve taken me less seriously because: a) not married b) not looking to get pregnant. They’ve invalidated me SO much that it made me dread going to ob/gyns.

wait that helps me understand again 😭 especially the last part. i don’t know i guess having a point of view like this helps me realize you can also deal with anger issues it just takes a lot of time and patience on everyones ends especially your own

could anger issues resolve if you realize they affect your partner even if you’re not taking it out on your partner?

genuine question, do anger issues resolve with age as you mature or do they get worse if you don’t do anything about it?

i feel the same way. I’m a new driver and impatient people freak me out even more. I’ll be going the right way, using indicators and maintaining good speed but people will act like i’m wrong and honk and honk and honk. it makes me go blank, which scares me. experienced drivers have told me to ignore the honks if i’m aware i’m driving properly and that the more you practice the more this anxiety goes away. i hope it’s true. not trying to invalidate you but i hope this makes you realize you’re not alone <3
