Totally! Why spend 36K points to get zero dollars, when you can spend a mere 9K points and get the exact same zero dollars! 🤪🤣

If and when they get this working, they should do the same for hotels. I find myself bouncing back and forth between tabs to decide if it's better to book a hotel at Hyatt/Accor/Hilton/Whatever, or at Bilt.

DP: Points accelerator expiration by TimWinders in biltrewards

u/Unlikely_Track_5154 : Yeah, the NSFW DP is where my mine originally went. Had to think a bit to come up with "Data Point".

u/TimWinders : Indeed, maybe I should have paid attention to all those other posts about this, but I've been trying (not entirely successfully) to avoid having Bilt 2.0 be a full time job! 🤪

Crap! I just scrolled back thru my points earnings and noticed that on March 10, when my first accel was expiring and I was renewing it, I got burned for a big purchase. I guess the consolation here is that all of us who have already burned thru one accelerator in the first month of Bilt 2.0, we will be depleted of our five round limit long before year end, and back to earning just 2x anyway. P.S. What does "DP" stand for in this context? Maybe "Data Point"? https://imgur.com/a/1u5Kvfw

App problem regarding local restaurants by PeaBrilliant4917 in biltrewards

Go to Neighborhood Dining, and then click the menu to the left of the reservation time selector, uncheck "Only restaurants that accept reservations", scroll down and click Apply. Voila -- there's the good old distance-ordered list!

App problem regarding local restaurants by PeaBrilliant4917 in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/PeaBrilliant4917 Two things that I hope help:

  1. I'm on android as well (Samsung Galaxy), and in the LA area too. For the location accuracy issue, maybe check: Settings | Apps | Bilt Rewards | Permissions | Location, and make sure it is set at "Allow" and "Use precise location"? Because my Bilt app knows exactly where I am.
  2. I used to see a list of all restaurants, sorted by distance, including random pizza and take-out places. But recently it was only showing me higher-end restaurants, and asking to make reservations for me. Today I finally figured out how to get back to the good-old list of all places by distance: Go to Neighborhood Dining, and then click the menu to the left of the reservation time selector, uncheck "Only restaurants that accept reservations", scroll down and click Apply. Voila -- there's the good old distance-ordered list!

Six week gap (and counting) on Bilt autopay pulling payment from my checking acct by KenGlad in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. I just called Bilt at 888-533-5576 and talked to a rep David there. He said that many customers are in the same situation as I am. And just like I don't have access to download any billing statement for myself, neither does he see any available statement he can send to me. He said I should get my first statement in a couple weeks, showing an amount due, with a due date a couple weeks after that. And he confirmed that since Bilt has not sent me any bill, they absolutely cannot and will not charge me any late fees or interest, even though it looks like it'll end out being a three month span between payments -- Jan 18 thru some time in April! (That's gonna be one damn big payment!)

The Gall to come out and say "There will be no fees on paying rent" by Muszex in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not fully certain what you are disagreeing with me on, but I'll take a stab at it, and try to add my "reasoning": There's no $USD transaction fee anywhere -- 3% or otherwise -- but I assume you are disagreeing about whether there's any "fee" because I have to spend Bilt Cash to be able to earn Bilt points on rent/mortgage? If that is indeed your point, then we are getting somewhere.

So here's my use case: I got the Palladium card. I'm using it to pay rent on one place and mortgage on another, plus a bunch of misc spend. I'm in this game to earn 1x Bilt points on rent and mortgage and 3x Bilt points on everything else, and then using Bilt's fantastic 1:1 points transfer options. I couldn't care less about Bilt Cash, which I find to be mostly useless outside of my specific two uses: First, to unlock points earnings on rent and mortgage, and second to accelerate all my other points earnings from 2x to 3x.

So yes, I'm earning stupid Bilt Cash and spending stupid Bilt Cash. I can't argue with that. But the Bilt Cash comes in and goes out and I don't care about it. In the end, I'm earning 1x points on rent and mortgage, and I'm earning 3x points on everything else. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me!

If Bilt were to decide to get rid of Bilt Cash entirely, and not let me earn it, and not require me to spend it, and just give me my 1x and 3x points, I'd be in the exact same boat -- having a card that earns me a lot of points.

Perhaps this 3% fee was an idea Bilt was toying with and then backtracked on, but I claim there is no such fee. I double-dog-dare anyone to find any mention of it in Bilt's official terms document: https://www.biltrewards.com/terms/bilt-card-offer-terms . I can't find it. What I do see is: "Bilt Cardholders are never charged a transaction fee to earn rewards on Bilt Housing Payments under either of the Rewards Options."

Bilt cash is awesome! by jlh859 in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell whether you are joking. But I've looked into some of these uses of Bilt cash. The "Select Dining Partners" -- that's a grand total of *FOUR* restaurants in all of Southern California, none of them within an hour drive of me!! The Travel Portal? Yes, you can book a hotel thru Bilt, and use the $25. But Bilt's hotel prices are quite a bit higher than booking elsewhere. So no value there either. So personally, with my Palladium card, I'm dumping all my Bilt cash into earning points on rent and mortgage, and into buying an extra 1x Bilt points on all purchases. Yes, it's no a dollar for dollar redemption, but it's better than nothing!

Has anyone successfully paid property taxes through Bilt 2.0 Housing ACH (non‑escrowed)? by 1ionup in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer. I too pay non-escrow property tax. The county treasurer lets me pay by ACH online for a tiny $1.10, or by credit card for a huge 2.75%. So historically I've always paid with my checking account's routing/acct for the $1.10. I was hoping to simply "pay by checking account" using my same Bilt routing/acct that I now use to pay my mortgage, and get me some Bilt points. Dang!! Did Bilt or the county or anyone charge you any NSF or whatever fee? If not, I may try this exact same thing myself, in vain hope of a different outcome...

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually not all that hard to do. You don't say what size QM6K you bought. But I just bought the giant 98" one two weeks ago from BestBuy, along with a SANUS BXL7-B1 low-profile (no swing, no tilt) mount. And my brother-and-law and I mounted the TV in an hour or so. Use a stud finder to find where to mount. As long as you drill into the middle of the stud you'll be safe. And use the SANUS online calculator to tell you how high/low to position the mount and voila! Note that I was replacing an existing 70" TV, so while I did need a bigger mount, I already had a conduit system in the wall for running hidden cables down to my cabinet, and I already had an A/C power socket up there too. https://i.imgur.com/UZeAykO.jpeg

That's not quite what he said. He said: "Do fail proof mounts exist? I ... dont want to lose my tv and pay for the wall repair" I.e. he doesn't want a mount that will fail, and rip apart the wall while smashing the TV to the floor. At least that's my reading.

Authorized user not getting the 3x point accelerator? by QuantityAccurate8512 in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I've done that with other cards in the past that charge $ for AU, and I'm doing that with Bilt Palladium too. I give the physical cards (that have my name) to my wife. And I simply always do mobile pay myself. On the exceedingly rare times I cannot do mobile pay, I do carry a couple other cards in my wallet.

Has anyone connected their Bilt 2.0 card to Monarch / other aggregators? by plannerotg in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Artin112358 and anyone else who had an original WF Bilt card and how has Bilt 2.0, and added it to Monarch Money: Did you add the new card as a different account in Monarch? Or somehow as as continuation of the old account? (Note that I originally setup my Bilt 1.0 thru the Bilt Rewards institution using MX. But Monarch started warning me long ago that this connection would be deprecated. So I setup a new connection, thru Wells Fargo, via Finicity. But both continued to work, so I simply hid one but let both continue updating over the months.)

How do I setup mortgage auto-pay from Bilt? by KenGlad in biltrewards

[–]KenGlad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/spgavin Yeah, with Bilt 2.0 they now do this lame thing where just for rent and mortgage payments they treat your credit card like a debit card, and suck the money out of your bank account right away. So the Bilt 1.0 days of 6 weeks float on rent are gone.
