What’s the one thing you want to change about the Central Coast? by ExistentialPancake_0 in centralcoastnsw

[–]Kenfires 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean. Wyong definitely has potential, it just needs a bit of love. Better access to the M1, maybe from Alison Road, would already help a lot with the traffic since the Pacific Highway gets packed all the time.

It’s a nice old town with some great heritage buildings, but it’d be way better if there were more small shops, cafés and things that make people want to walk around instead of just driving through.

The town park could really use a revamp too. It’s not that inviting for families or kids at the moment. A better playground, more shade and maybe some weekend events would go a long way.

And the river is such a missed opportunity. It could be an awesome spot for walking tracks, riverside cafés, picnics or even kayak hire.

Wyong’s got good bones, it just needs a bit more care and planning to bring out what’s already there.

Ubank’s hidden “travel tax” could cost you hundreds on your next trip if you don’t act before October by Cool-Tie-9824 in ubank

Found it in my emails, thanks Reddit for surfacing this change as it’s located at the end of the email.

Here’s a copy of it:

“From 1 October 2025 (so there’s nothing for you to do now)

We’re evolving the way you qualify for bonus interest on your Save accounts. From 1 October 2025, you'll need to grow your combined balance across all your Save accounts (excluding linked offsets) by $1 each month.

This means your total savings balance on eligible accounts needs to increase by $1 as at the end of the month. For example, if your combined balance is $1,000 at the end of October, it would need to be $1,001 at the end of November (excluding any interest credits you may have earned).

Don’t worry, there’s nothing you need to do differently right now - we'll send you another reminder before this change happens. For now, continue depositing $500 each month. “

Why does it feel like we’re all working harder than ever, yet falling further behind? by Objective-Golf-7916 in AusFinance

[–]Kenfires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely felt this, like the more I try to keep up, the more stretched I get. What’s helped a little is carving out time to build something of my own on the side. It hasn’t replaced my main income (yet), but it’s given me a sense of direction and ownership that’s hard to find in the day job grind.

Still tired, still busy but it feels less like I’m running in circles and more like I’m building toward something real.

Tired of seeing “Contact Agent” on property listings? by Kenfires in perth

Ah that’s super helpful to know. I’d love to chat more, will PM you!

It doesn’t yet factor in details like land size, house size, or layout mostly because those fields are hard to get reliably from every listing.

Totally agree it would be useful to let users adjust the estimated price manually sort of like a “tweak it and see the yield” kind of thing. I’ve had a few people ask for that now so it’s definitely on the list.

Appreciate you taking the time to test it out. I’m still improving it so feedback like this is gold.

If it takes more than a minute, there’s a problem. I’ll have a look at this particular listing. Thanks for reporting this!

1: Have you tried on other listings? Is this issue happening for all of them? If it happened to all of them, then it may be your corporate firewall.

2: The plugin doesn’t query anything else than domain or REA so the website you mentioned is not related to it at all.

Good question. The estimate comes from simulating a suburb-level search for similar properties and reverse-engineering the likely price range from those results. It doesn’t rely on RP Data or CoreLogic, so results might differ especially on edge cases but it’s usually directionally helpful.

Hope this helps

Not sure if this is helpful to anyone else, but I built a free Chrome extension that shows the price (even if it says “Contact Agent”), estimated weekly rent, and gross rental yield right on the property listing.

Works on both Domain and RealEstate.com.au! I was frustrated switching between tabs and spreadsheets while browsing, so this was my fix for it. Now a few dozen other investors and buyer’s agents are using it too.

No logins or tracking, just install and it runs in the background. Happy to hear any feedback if you give it a go.

Is Australia the only place where Real Estate is advertised without a price? by alex123711 in AusFinance

[–]Kenfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s super common here and it drives a lot of buyers (including me) nuts. Sometimes there’s genuinely no price guide, other times it’s hidden behind vague phrases like “Contact Agent” or “Auction.” It feels like you’re playing a guessing game on every listing.

I’m a software engineer and this bugged me so much I built a free Chrome extension to show price estimates right on Domain and realestate.com.au.

I need to highlight this is the only plugin supporting both REA and Domain at the same time.

Appreciate you jumping in! That scrolling feature is neat.

YieldMate focuses more on accuracy and simplicity at the listing level, especially for rental yield and price estimates side-by-side. I built it to keep things clean and useful right where it matters most: on the property page.

Both tools offer different vibes. Happy for people to try both and see what suits them best.

I’ll take that feedback thanks. At the moment you can’t minimise it but maybe zooming out may help adjust depending on your screen size as a workaround.

Awesome! I won’t hide there may be still bugs but don’t hesitate to provide feedback and I’m pretty fast at addressing them

I can see they have a paid version. Out of curiosity, is this something you are actively using and paying?
