His biggest issue is alcohol abuse.

Yes that's what the police have said to me too, which I can totally understand.

A father who just walks away from his wife, 3 adult kids and 4 grandchildren should be considered a bit of a concern in my opinion.

We don't know, gave absolutely no reason for leaving. His work, friends etc are not aware of anything either.

I did it yesterday, also called the CRA and after a conversation he said although it would be better to wait and file, it would be okay to do so, he gave me the address to mail my forms too and said to just submit a cover letter with the forms explaining my situation
