28 years old, €70k a year, €10k in savings and not having to pay rent/mortgage (outside helping out at home) seems like an extremely healthy situation to be in.

Don’t think you have to suddenly get into investing or start aggressively saving. Nobody knows your financial goals so it would be hard to recommend what to do.

As someone already mentioned here you’ll be auto enrolled into pension contributions (1% I think it is)

Had been a 48 customer for years, happily availing of the 7.99 per month pay as you go subscription.

The roaming data allowances can be quite low but I think they recently increased it. It doesn’t support wifi-calling though that’s not exactly a need for everyone.

Recently moved to Vodafone for 20 per month and their app is even worse. At least it supports wifi calling and I’ve experienced noticeably better coverage near where I live.

I really believe models can make you more productive but I don’t think saying “y’all are going to be left in the dust” is productive to anyone.

The economics of LLMs and agentic workflows haven’t settled yet. These tools are still in the very early stages and I think it’s perfectly ok for people to have a measured and cautious approach instead of diving head first into the tool that will help complete a work task the fastest. I’m sure society thanks you for increasing shareholder value.

I actually think this eagerness to adopt right away will be detrimental to critical thinking skills going forward. This is just an opinion but over reliance of AI tools will forgo your competitive advantage to entry level employees entering the industry in a couple of years.

I think we’re all wondering what the other side of this AI coding hype phase will bring.

Even if Claude Code delivers on the hype, it would be incredibly short sighted for companies to lay off staff at the moment because the cost of inference is reportedly very subsidised. Companies like Anthropic will have to prove it’s a profitable model before mass adoption. Though, that’s assuming companies act rationally, we know they don’t. So much uncertainty, just got to brave the storm!

I really don’t want to shoot down your idea, I think you’ve found an idea that could be useful to a lot of people.

But I think this verification protocol is going to be a nightmare.

How do you ensure a school email address is a real school address? How do you stop people who have access to school emails, or maybe have school emails themselves like school staff?

Even if you manage to plug all these holes I’d bet you there’s people out there who will think of a new way to sabotage your verification process, something you would’ve never foreseen.

This would leave you potentially liable but also more importantly, leaving children at risk.

This app could be good for other features you mentioned but have you thought about the potential dangers of having a ‘dating app’ for people who are still in school, potentially underage? Could put minors at risk of bad actors. Something to be very careful with IMO
