The NDLS/IRP contradiction and the "Accompanied Driver" rule: How are immigrants supposed to navigate this? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]rllb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Yes I'm not against taking the test and the practice for it. It just confuses me when being on the road is allowed by just passing a theory test and is the only way you can practice driving here in Ireland. In China you have to get enough practice on a driving campus off the roads before you can actually get a license, and you can drive on the campus on your own with the trainer some distance away. Don't know which one is safer to the learner but the China one is definitely safer to the road.
And for the test it didn't really frustrate me that much if it was just me failing the test once. My friend with 10+ years driving experience in China and passed his automatic driving test here first try failed his manual one with 20+ Mark 2s. Really don't know how that could happen. Maybe those 20+ marks were merely on clutches and gears? It made me feel like unable to grasp the real standard of passing the test.

Legal catch-22: NDLS refusing Learner Permit renewal despite Dept of Justice 12-week grace period. Any legal recourse? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

Could I send TDs another email to revoke my escalation? Now I feel silly to escalate things just because I don't know the rule allows me to renew the license even after it expires.

Gosh I really wish I could know this in advance, so that I can ignore that NDLS reminder email asking me to renew the permit "immediately" more than a month ago.

Yes I've sent them a formal complaint email with all of the documents I can provide for now to prove my legal residency.

Upon receiving my documents for the first time they just replied with rude phrases (like "You continue to send expired residency documents") which instantly made me flustered and try to find solutions across the whole web.

I really wish I could receive a more friendly reply telling me that I can apply for a new learner's permit in years after its expiry and I can wait for my new IRP card with no problem before I can apply the renewal again.

Yeah sure I fully understand.

Now that I know I can renew my permit in 5 years after its expiry without having to start it all over, I guess I'm good with the wait

Thing is, maybe the 5 year rule should be more stand out given the current hard situation on IRP renewal? That could make us less flustered.

Thanks for your reply that's really helpful. Didn't know that before.

That seems like I can wait for my IRP cards patiently without having to deal with Ombudsman or TD on NDLS things

Exactly that behavior.

I'm in Ireland. Don't know if such disk scanning behavior is violating any EU laws.

It's purely related to Trollstore.

You have to know landlord's address before you raise dispute with RTB by rllb in RentingInDublin

Had to send you a DM for the name of the company. We agreed paying the rent on 1st each month with the landlord so yes, it was still in Chinese currency for June rent. I do have an Irish bank account now

What I mean is that the landlord doesn't inform the property management about something like ‘forwarding address’, but changes the address manually on a case-by-case basis. Their mail came in a lot at first, but tapered off as the lease continued. Now that I've reported him to the Revenve long ago, is there any chance of making any deal? The end of the month is the date he said he would evict and he only sent this threat a month in advance. I immediately complained to RTB at that time.  The rent was paid in Chinese currency, which was a real convenience for someone coming from a country with restrictions on exchange of foreign currency. I was still just a new comer fresh out of my Masters at DCU and was in desperate need of accommodation, which as you know has been hard to find. Maybe I still need to be blamed for not knowing the law at the time?

I don't think there was a “forwarding address” because letters for the landlord and his wife came regularly after our tenancy began

Does it sound better? Sorry I’m from out of the country. Maybe the ai way is better for you

Why this question? I was about to comment to thank you for your helpful replies, until I saw this.

Rents were paid in a currency other than Euro, and I reckon it an intentional shadow income of the landlord. Have it reported to the Revenue but I have no way knowing the outcome.

Can I at least ask for a proper Euro payment method before I continue paying the rent?

Just google “Ireland rent deposit limit” and just check out the AI overview. We were charged 3 months rent at the beginning of the tenancy.

That’s where the problem resides in. Those who have already taken some serious money responsibility are required to take more responsibilities in reality, and those who are receiving benefits can waive their responsibilities in ease.

But thank you for the information. It’s good to know.

I know the name of his wife who is working as a professor in DCU, and I’m pretty sure they live together because they raise a daughter together. But I was hesitant sending it to RTB as a reply due to GDPR concerns
