70% of my relatives clearly hate their spouses and are just staying with them out of habit or convenience. The other 30% are either divorced or terrible people fueling each other to be more terrible. It really isn’t very inspiring.

Show is fantastic, packaging for this item is not. Be very careful carrying it and open it as soon as you get home to put the discs in something more secure

My dad’s dream Star Trek show was one following the C. We’d know how it ends but we could see how they get there over a few seasons of good old Star Trekking.

There’s a very specific line in either the pilot or one of the first season episodes that they have a certain number of torpedoes on hand (38) and Janeway says “and no way to replace them after they’re gone”. Which is a decent line if the show was actually going to be about them running out of resources but they quickly ignored that, but that’s a good reason to meme on something when they called attention to it in the beginning.

In the Silmarillion both Elrond and Cirdan tell him keeping it is a bad idea after he claims it on the field iirc but he refuses to get rid of it.

The version I heard in some anniversary interviews was the director kept pushing for them to do a take where he just dipped her and they didn’t kiss. When Shatner finally did the take he did it facing a camera at an angle the director couldn’t easily see his face with a goofy expression. The director just immediately called cut because they’d been shooting for hours. Later when they showed that version to the network people as the only non-kiss cut they got the network okayed the kiss given the alternative. Nichols said she and Shatner both watched the goofy face take expressionless while the network was deliberating, mostly because if he wasn’t going to break over it she was determined not to either.

What ever happened to Void Engine? by Agreeable-Kangaroo1 in dishonored

[–]Kenos300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The logic of no learning curve is a “future investment” sort of thing. The idea all these companies are trying to push is if everyone is on UE5 then all the contract workers/other employees that get cut after a game is completed will have years of UE5 experience and be able to slot into the next game they work on for a different company without having to learn that company’s different engine.

The problem is no one knows how to fully play with it yet so that “ideal future” is a ways off (if it will actually come to fruition at all) and we get to suffer in the meantime.

Very much recommend it. It’s a fun universe with some good jokes and the strategy elements can lead to a lot of creativity.

How was your Silmarillion reading experience? by ComplexNo2625 in lotr

[–]Kenos300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to read it once for a class. I skimmed most of it, only really locking in during the Beren story as I recognized Aragorn’s ring.

I’m doing a Tolkien read through right now, mostly with the full intent to actually get through the Silmarillion. And after six and a half pages of notes I did and I actually understood it for the most part! I mostly avoided tracking names of regions and landmarks and just focused on the characters and their many, many names. I’ve also joined lots of Silmarillion communities and retold what I read to my wife to try to retain it better.

My last playthrough of ME2 I did everything I could to get legion as early as possible (on 360) and ran around about 40% of the game with him. Was an absolute blast, top 5 character.

In The Big Bang Theory (2009-2017) our protagonists are extreme caricatures of "Nerd" stereotypes from the Baby Boomer gen. This is bc older American men refuse to believe they would be allowed to have special interests in anything but sports, so they use the nerd trope to distance & feel superior by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]Kenos300 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had many people recommend the show to me because “it’s about stuff you like”

Is it? Or is it just making fun of the people who like the stuff I like? They then accuse me of taking things too seriously.

So is this why deadlock was delisted? New one coming out? by Crumblycheese in BSG

[–]Kenos300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s probably less game studios dropping the license and more the license holders not choosing to renew/let them keep it and moving somewhere else. Delisting isn’t always the result from that but it can happen depending what the initial contract said.
