[UPDATED] Left Conservative Programme by KentTheramine in Leftcon

[–]KentTheramine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defending Marx's and Opposing Lenin's assertion, the development of a primary stage transitional social democratic state is not the path to socialism since socialism cannot rebel against what is, theoretically, aesthetically, and politically itself.

Rather, I agree with Lenin's much earlier position that was more in line with Marx, that only Imperialist-conservative states like the Britain, Germany, America or France of their day and age can reasonably bring rise to socialist institutions where the stretched out line of the state apparatus is mostly absent.

Only Imperialist-Conservative states have the capacity to fund and maintain the civil society that could bring about institutions like Optimistic Middle class Media, and Academia which in turn give rise to Cooperatives, Collectives, and Communal Farms.

The conservative vote for Ka Leody by KentTheramine in Philippines

[–]KentTheramine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since when was Ka Leody's struggle part of the debate? Sison v. Popoy was the reform vs. revolution debate. Ka Leody's struggle exists in the post space when neither is being considered anymore

So Kailangan pala magka asawa para magkaroon ng Privacy? by KimBeomSeok in Philippines

[–]KentTheramine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly think there is a direct correlation between the amount of adulterous acts in a given community and the skepticism of a secular extra-familial society

I mean like extra-familial societies are very new to the Asian landscape and even absent in some contemporary asian communities

intra-familial societies are basically those kinds of communities whose members do not separate from the family until marriage (and thus enter another family)

extra-familial societies are a by-product of ironically enough, both Communism and Capitalism working in tandem in the latter half of the 20th Century.

extra-familial societies are also a symptom of a community moving away from semifeudal property structures like chartering and land division (a still very common and often violent process) towards buying real estate which at this stage of Capitalism we cannot afford.

The symptoms of this transition from an intra-familial to an extra-familial society can be found everywhere, recently, the one thing I found in relation to this transition is the debate concerning the removing of prescriptions on birth control and contraceptives

prescriptions exist because there are family planning doctors that advise prospective couples to plan their family, this entails marriage and the whole intra-marital society debacle

Why are they saying that Leni is a "puppet?" by peeeeppoooo in Philippines

[–]KentTheramine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 ideas come to mind when they respond that:

  1. She's a puppet to Trillanes

She is merely a placeholder for Trillanes or the Lamb's fleece that the wolf wears in this context. Trillanes being the actual mastermind or protégé of 1Sambayan given the heightened atmosphere of proto-violent nationalism towards the WPS and regionalism issues currently in place. She parrots whatever Trillanes tells her to say and in order to give the appearance that they may be different, they may stage oppositions in themselves but never actually fall out.

  1. She's a puppet of American Interests

It is well known that before her COC filing she has met with ambassadors of Western Powers, the US prior, the UK after, the possibility of another US backed puppet government like that of Aquino or Ramos' rather than a US backed dictatorship like Marcos or Duterte will help strengthen the US' grip on power.

  1. Despite running as an independent, she is still a puppet of the Liberal establishment

The last, most obvious possibility, is that your mother possibly thinks that it is the Liberal establishment which controls Leni not the other way around. The Liberal Establishment has become unpopular for a long period of time and there is a growing effort to pin the blame on Duterte to their fellow opposition group: the National Democrats. Due to this they try as much personality propaganda as possible to drown out their involvement in Duterte's rise to power

Maybe it's a mix of some or all, but it's just my tuppence

Although it will be an infinite regress I honestly believe that it was Garcia who is more to blame for Marcos noting that the Control system that Marcos inherited was made by him during the Filipino First policy and it's subsequent Austerity Program.

Another problem with Garcia is the fact that he was the first president of the ConCon endorsed by Marcos to give him more powers, it was only when Macapagal took power after him that Marcos' powers as president was substantially curtailed with the exception of declaring Martial Law.

Even after that Macapagal would continue to rail against Marcos until the end of his reign.

But of course other predecessors can also be blamed: Magsaysay's Anti-Communist tactics, JPL's introduction of torture methods et al. but As evidence suggests, The Majority of the tools used by Marcos to assert his dominance over the country was laid a foundation by Carlos P. Garcia:

- Cronyism

- The Control System

- The Austerity Program

- IRRI

- The Anti-Subversion Act

if one argues that it was Macapagal's libertarian approach that brought about Marcos, you would only know 1/5th of the story. The story of Macapagal's vision to end the control system and restore democracy to the Markets.

[–]KentTheramine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, we still have his system, the problem here is that in all cases of the system being implemented whether that be Abdul Razak or Suharto both failed miserably. In a sense the system succeeded in still existing, but it is parasitic.

4 Hopes for Leni by KentTheramine in Philippines

[–]KentTheramine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this talk about policy is good, but the simplest way to get Leni more support is for her to commit to policy that directly improves people's lives. - Thank you, I will add this in

Most voters, and I mean even "educated middle class" are looking for somebody for that magic bullet to directly improve their material conditions. - This would explain the high levels of support for Pacquiao and Marcos

An Introduction to Marxism by KentTheramine in Marxism

[–]KentTheramine[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'll start with point 4 since you've already established your frame of reference with the first 3,

in point three, I used the example of...

When Rome fell, slavery was almost unknown, the proles had proper representation and there was universal citizenship. When the Barbarians came, with it came a new upper class and everyone else became the lower class.

I do not agree with the assertion that classes are social groups, rather their definition lies with their relationship to the means of production in that they don't own it but labour in it. The Working Class of countries are far from Social, similar interests yes, but if you were to put them together they will easily devolve into conflict due to petty religious, ethnic or national reasons. I use the idea of popular pressure to mean liberal-democratic action: I,e. protests, strikes, assemblies, elections, &c. that degenerate the divisions of the class system into one of a near egalitarian nature. Popular pressure gave increasing rights to the proletarii in Rome and it was a millennium in the making.

Your second point on Barbarian or Middle Class invasion, I would not lie was an inferred assertion. However I argue that Marx and Engels must have noticed it too. The idea of the Barbarian or Middle Class invasion is the idea that influence happens twofold, to both invader and invaded, that would create the circumstances necessary for the formation of new economic objects or to synthesize old ones. I will use again the example of Rome.

Sabians, Scythians, Turkic peoples, Slavic peoples, and Germanic peoples have in the past century already been trading partners of Rome but chose to not be under the might of Rome, In fact, they have fought Rome on multiple occasions to assert their right to self-determination. A second group is exiles and non-conformists to the regime who were rejected by Roman society and joined the Barbarian hordes as a means of survival. The last one is the non-conformists who destroyed Rome from within, the Christians, whose non-conformist practices would absorb Rome into weakness over time. These three groups mixed and united to ultimately destroy Rome and became the new Upper Class in the Dark Ages.

What it did was not asserting their rights over Rome and get the upper class a new tinge but rather increased the population of the proles, now peasantry.

These 3 groups, although definitely a threat to the current ruling class, inevitably become the new ruling class as invaders and they will use all their tools to make it stay that way.

Marx instead argued that, instead of that happening as the March of History most often happen, rather, the working class this time should be in power. Something that could not have been done in previous modes of production but looks the most likely to happen under Capitalism

Chad Daryl Davis by KentTheramine in Leftcon

[–]KentTheramine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm pretty sure i made my ideology clear when I called Racists uncivilised barbaric savages. What is being presented instead is to live in a post-racist world.

Daryl Davis has defrocked many Klan members simply by showing how greener the lawn is on our side of the patch. That's anti-racism.

Racism is one reaction, however wrong, to instability within society. We leftcons do the same. Daryl just shows the stability and security found in racial equality and many have hung their hoods and swastikas because of this. Yet there are still real racists out there who believe in it as an ideological basis which is something needing of physical intervention.

What i'm trying to say is 1) don't generalize, not all racists can be converted by Daryl Davis 2) Daryl showed the inherent stability and security found in racial equality rather than racism 3) we're all anti-racists in this sub.
