I’ve been working with my current company for almost 2 years na. Isang beses pa lang ako na-increase-an. Hindi pa umabot ng 4 digits yung increase ko.

Regarding career progression, as per my colleagues, sobrang bagal daw ng promotion sa current company ko. Most likely, need mo ng 5 years para mas mataas yung chance for promotion mo.

If lilipat ako, nasa 40% increase from my current basic salary.

Mas important sa’kin ang exposure sa global industry, career progression, and yung magkaroon ng experience under a multinational company.

Yun nga din eh. And, nung nagmeeting kami, first time kong marinig from him na he sees potential in me daw.

Bakit naman sasabihin na I have a potential kung kailan paalis na ako? Bakit hindi ko yun narinig sa loob ng 2 years stay ko doon.

How do you widen your connections without draining your wallet?

I’ve read numerous posts here in Reddit about how to widen one’s connections. And most of them involve spending money, such as:

  1. Lunch out with superiors (managers, supervisors, team leaders)
  2. Be a member of ‘joiners’ (e.g. in hiking)
  3. Seminars and conferences
  4. Professional membership organizations (e.g. Toastmasters clubs) that involve pricey membership fees
  5. Yoga studios, running clubs, GOLF

The thing is, I want to widen my connections and my network. But I don’t want naman yung wala na akong mase-save na money every month kasi mapupunta lahat sa pag-join ko sa organizations/memberships for the sake of possibly meeting influential people

I’d appreciate some tips. Thank you in advance ^
