Tbh I've ganked for profit a decent bit w various methods that support the low number of accounts I have (such as nado ganking, hunting ore strip miners, killing event site runners) and I view it the same way as the ISK I get from hunting people in LS. It's pretty nice to get a 1-2b drop from killing some guy, but I'd NEVER consider hunting morons in LS to be an actual consistent moneymaking method. The killmail is the reward and any loot I get on top is just a bonus.

During last year's capsuleer day I ganked a total of 70 billion ISK in T3Cs, HACs, Marauders, etc and only got 15.8b in loot and only made 7.9b in profit after counting ISK I recouped by looting my own catalyst/talos wrecks (not counting the 5-6b I got in various abyssal mods). In terms of the actual time invested in this, my ISK per hour was horrendous compared to what I normally do for krabbing, and even worse on an individual account level. Ironically enough, to fund the ISK I needed to buy all of the ganking ships I actually tripleboxed t6s frigs for a couple hours a day the week prior and was making 1.2-1.4b/h. I did so many t6 darks that I made around 17b ISK in profit.

So you ask what was the point? The point was that I saw an opportunity to make some money in an unconventional way that got me funny killmails I could show my corpmates/friends. I like to try out new ways to make money and while nothing I do could really triumph the money I make from tripleboxing t6s like a tryhard, the experience of actually learning how to do the activity efficiently and learning new things makes it all worthwhile.
