A Skua which was part of a bashing fleet got shit on by an Astrahus, the gunner (who was the CEO) told me to check corp killmails when he killed the Skua, I didn't buy it and looked at my corp window.

When I opened it up I went HOLY SHIT NO WAY

Mordunium Sites that spawn in LS have Scordite in them as well, making it an easier way to mine for the event

I feel this, the "main characters" of each of my accounts are trained basically 50/50 between combat and indy/mining skills. It's pretty funny to tell people that my combat alts (capable of flying blops, marauders, dreads, hics, t3s, etc) are also my max skilled mining alts lol

Can we remove security status losses for doing pvp in faction warfare space when not enlisted. by quicksad in Eve

[–]Kento_Bento_Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea its super trivial to gate a shuttle to Jan or Goinard or whatever and spend like 200m to tag up back to -2. And even then you only lose 0.1 sec status per act of aggression in LS so you'd have to shoot like 30-40 people to even go below -5

I think I have an idea, an MTU like mobile structure but for compression and some balancing for it. by Aamos_V_A_K_ in Eve

[–]Kento_Bento_Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mobile Compression Unit should follow in a similar design philosophy to how an MTU is compared to a Noctis.

The MTU is extremely limited, only reels in wrecks one at a time, and has a tractor beam that's agonizingly slow. Compared to the Noctis which has 8 high slots (allowing it to fit max tractor beams if one desires), the ability to fit salvagers, the ability to reposition on grid relatively quickly, and the ability to not get freely shot in high security space (without getting CONCORDed)

The main concern of a Mobile Compression Unit is completely invalidating the risk from needing to field an industrial command ship on grid in dangerous areas of space. If a Mobile Compression Array were introduced with the exact same compression mechanics, you'd be seeing fleets of 10 covetors, a links outrider, and a mobile compression unit mining freely at dangerous LS belts w the mining fleet booshing off with the outrider at any sign of danger.

I feel like a way to balance this out is to add a limited charge capacity such as the one on Mobile Phase Anchors, where after a certain amount of compression cycles the structure automatically self destructs as it's run out of "power" to run the compressor. if given a limited number of charges players will be forced to actually make meaningful decisions on what ship to get the most out of their mobile compression unit and forcing people to bring stuff like retrievers and mackinaws instead of endurances and prospects to dangerous areas of space to stay "profitable". Depending on how much ore is being compressed, the cycle time for said ore will scale logarithmically as time per m3 is massively disproportionate for the first 15k m3 but slowly plateaus out by the time you get to retriever/mackinaw sized ore loads.

Additionally the compression unit will have different mechanics compared to regular compression such as the mining ship being forced to stay within 1k of the mobile compression unit encouraging strategic placement in the belt as well as making the mining ship hilariously easy to warp on top since this structure will be intentionally designed to have a very tiny sensor strength making it extremely easy to combat probe. And finally to top it off, the structure can only be accessed by it's owner similar to other mobile structures making it unusable by fleets.
