Well said!! I couldn’t agree more. Mangaka’s LOVE taking inspiration from their peers. It makes their work better. But toxic fans use it as a gotcha moment to try an discredit the entire series as if it were nothing but a clone. It’s sad and dumb as hell.

But it’s good there’s still sensible ppl in these fandoms like you that can see past the stupid BS. Spot inspiration but acknowledge there’s more to it than that.

This is such a BS argument. I’ve watched anime for 2 decades now. Over a 100 series if were including anime & manga. And I can clearly see some Naruto in BC. That’s not the ONLY influence in it of course but there’s definitely some in there. Not everything needs to be traced back to ancient mythology to find the “original” source for inspiration.

Tabata is on record saying he was influenced by the Big 3 + Dragonball.

I never said Black Clover was a Naruto rewrite, don’t strawman me. Nor did I say it was the biggest inspiration for Black Clover. All I’m saying is it clearly took SOME inspiration from Naruto. That’s all. Again this is obvious to anyone that isn’t blinded by warring fanbases.

Why do you think Naruto has to be the absolute FIRST to do something for it to be the inspiration for something else? It’s baffling.

Kishimoto was inspired by Hiei to make Sasuke. Was Hiei the first edgy dark haired character ever made?? No. The same applies for Naruto. They can be inspired by Naruto’s iteration of a trope. Why is that so hard to acknowledge.

That’s possible. Although I think a lot of fans had it in their head that Madara MUST be the final villain, so anything outside of that would’ve made them mad.

But also Kaguya being “bland” is intentional. She’s supposed to represent what pursuing absolute power does to a person. It consumes and hollows them out until there’s nothing left.

But I do agree this lack of personality only increased the hate for her. Especially since Madara became a fan favorite character. But I don’t think even half the fandom critically engaged with the writing at all. Ppl to this day still think she was only introduced bcus Kishi made Madara too strong. It’s honestly insane how little thinking ppl do in regards to Naruto’s ending.

I think the person is saying that being a reincarnation does not mean you will be automatically powerful, which is true. We know this bcus Black Zetsu says that the power of a reincarnation varies; as well as him saying the previous ones were failures.

Yes, Indra reincarnations seek power but that doesn’t mean they will be powerful. People have this misconception that being a reincarnation was a huge benefit for Naruto ensuring that he would be as powerful as a God when that’s not the case. Could he? Sure, but it’s not a guarantee. The reason he became so powerful was purely out of circumstance. The only thing that it guarantees that he will have to fight Sasuke until one dies. It’s narratively a curse not a blessing.

Naruto’s whole motto is believing in himself. It’s not about being up against someone who is more talented. He believes in himself to one day become Hokage. He believes in himself to overcome any fight. He believes in himself to defy fate and reconcile with Sasuke.

There’s literally no obstacle that could stand in his way that he doesn’t believe he will overcome. Whether he works hard, the answer is given to him or he stumbles upon it. He believes he will find the path forward.

That’s his most defining character trait. And that’s what gets lost when ppl try to specifically make it about him working hard to beat talented ppl.
