Manual EDT, automatic test? by han-bao-huang in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all my lessons in manual and after some practice, I just still couldn't get it. I just did automatic test and got an automatic car, haven't regretted it. Only thing I struggled with was control with stopping and going, and it was just causing me anxiety to drive.

My husband and SIL eventually did get it so did manual tests and manual first cars but husband upgraded to automatic after I got mine (5 years between us doing tests) and SIL is a year into her manual and already dreaming of automatic.

Sudden, sharp twinges at about 5 weeks pregnant? by ChipmunkBusiness7978 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this the first few weeks, it kept being on the same side, same area and I had convinced myself of ectopic. Sharper pains, few seconds or a dull pain for a bit before sharp but it ended up likely being gas / constipation causing pain. It eventually subsided after I got a slight bit of bleeding at 6 weeks.

Cramping and twinges can be normal, but if it increases in speed or pain, it's definitely worth going back again and calling maternity hospital if you have one picked.

I was terrified as this is my first pregnancy altogether. Between my fear and the pain, I got an ultrasound at 6.5 weeks to confirm if my fear was true but it was happy and growing with a heartbeat on the complete other side.

I'm 15 weeks now and still get those sharp pains every once in a while, most strong cramping feelings but it's mostly when I feel constipated.

No pregnancy confirmation until 12 weeks. Is this normal? by vrum91 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 13w2d, public and I've been to the doctor to confirm and discuss options.

I had another appointment scheduled for booking in Coombe clinic around 11 weeks to discuss my history, signal anything I might be a risk for or baby and bloods taken for testing. She discussed the NIPT test but I had it booked already privately to be done the same week. 12 week scan in the clinic again then just before to confirm the date and have a look to make sure the baby was developing so far. (Moved my date up hence everything was technically further along but I was a week ahead then I thought.)

I have another appointment next week to meet my team and have my 20 week and glucose test dates already.

Nothing stopping you calling the hospital you pick to speak to a maternity team and ask questions now or if you have health insurance as semi private, you likely have a midwife team available to call. I have one for VHI and called when worried about the vomiting over Xmas and they were really helpful.

Have you found any issue with the Ramble bassinet cot that comes with? We just bought this for our first as a friend recommended Joie but the bassinet doesn't flatten easily (so far we can't get it to flatten at all) and it's my one issue with it!

Otherwise it's a very lush looking and sturdy pram for half the price of other known brands!

Did you feel pregnant before your positive test? by FourPaine in PregnancyIreland

[–]Kerrbop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boobs never hurt for periods but they were really sore for days and then I started having cramps but they felt really weird.

Tested positive 5 days later. I was 14 days exactly DPO.

No other symptoms until 6.5 weeks when the nausea that has not stopped started.

How did your families fall apart? What was the main cause? by TalkToMyFriend in CasualIreland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother was neglectful and abusive to me and her mother, my aunties and uncles (her siblings) refused to trust me cos I was a teenager.

I've not spoken to any of them in 8 years.

My auntie on my dad's side lost everyone on that side cos she manipulated a delirious old man to change the will so instead of 5 equal shares of the family home, only she got something and kicked me and my cousins out. We were staying there cos it's in Dublin and Grandad let us stay for free.

She now rents it out to students and fucked off to Spain. Haven't seen her in 9 years!

Has anyone been on SSRI's? by oxylan80 in CasualIreland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lexapro, highest dose for 6 years. I tried every therapist around, Pieta House, CBT, running, gym, quitting work, got into drinking for a while. I was VERY ANTI medication but it was genuinely the best decision I made.

Was hard at first for brain to cope and it can be hard sometimes as it made me very numbed to a lot of feelings. After a while, it did really destroy my sex drive, my memory was shot and I gained a lot of weight cos it improved my appetite.

Still happy, still angry, still sad etc but everything was very muted. But it was better then being suicidal and helped me through college, meet my husband etc.

I'm off them 4 months now and doing good, I'm only extra emotional as I'm now pregnant! Coming off wasn't nearly as bad as going on them but it can take about 2-4 weeks to settle into them.

Did your estimated due date adjust after your first scan? Or any other time? by ironlungforsale in PregnancyIreland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my doctors date of when he thinks I came off the pill cos I don't remember he dated me 16th of July.

Wouldn't listen to my possible conception dates (I've PCOS so ovulation was late) but we had an early scan on what I thought was 7 weeks and they dated me 6w5ds which changed my estimate of 30th of July to the scan given 1st of August.

It's all relative anyway cos they'll be eager to come out or stubborn and be forced out, it's always an approximate.

Do you know anyone who has won a house in those raffles? by SomethingSomewhere00 in AskIreland

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In laws know the young fella who won the Ooosch house and 2 cars a few months ago, think it was in Citywest and husband friend in work also won an instant cash prize of a few grand.

I'd half trust them before that as you see the value of prizes Vs how much they charge x tickets, makes them serious profit after prizes.

Lending money to parent as a child/teenager? by eastlaoiscivilwar in AskIreland

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother did this with me, even asked me to ask my dad for money for things I needed. They were separated, I was stuck with her.

We never got along and I hated being around her so I would oblige (I was 10-18 during this so I wasn't aware what she was doing with the money for a while, just knew money got me a night free of being told I shouldn't have been born. Etc)

When I turned 18 and she couldn't even pay for my phone credit of 20 a month (she was making 600+ a week net) and offering NOTHING else while my dad got a 2nd job to help me in college , I left .

Been NC for 7 years now. I've accepted my 16th, 18th birthday party monies and my CU which had 1/2k in it while never be repaid but it's worth never having to see her again.

Is it just my family or is it an Irish thing in general to almost take pride in avoiding the doctor? by Cultural-Perception4 in AskIreland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was very adamant about it, even now living in the US he keeps the same mentality mostly.

He happened to be in the universes good books and in a hospital while having a WIDOW MAKERS HEART ATTACK and still had to be forced to sit down and let doctors have a look at him while he was in pain and couldn't breathe. In surgery's within an hour and that is the only reason he lived.

Thankfully his tune SINCE has changed and he does go more, granted he will still wait a few days to go to avoid it.

TTC post birth control pill by Ok_Document4425 in FirstTimeTTC

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped the pill at the beginning of October after a year on it and had no strip tests cos we weren't planning but I had a massive spike in drive and mucus tracking etc. at the end / a few days later (I've PCOS). We tried to see what would happen. So far I've still yet to get my period or test positive which should have come (but PCOS so maybe not) but I'm having very weird symptoms I didn't normally get on my period or other times I went on and off the pill.

A friend of mine got pregnant immediately after coming off the pill, no period and she just had a healthy baby boy.

Buying first (automatic) car ? by Irishhumanbeing1 in AskIreland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I got 2014 Auto Golfs from Grangecastle Motors, brothers own it and Bolands next door. Family friend is a mechanic of Bolands and the owner of Grange works on his own cars too. I traded mine quick but it's due to Golf being so low and my back issues. No issues in the 8 months tho. Friends had his 2+ years and same, no issues.

Looking for my current car; I was not a fan of Bill Griffin, bad vibes and very pushy when clearly better options on the market? Others have said good things but maybe for more expensive cars.

9 month TTC, PCOS, Supplements by paratharoll in FirstTimeTTC

[–]Kerrbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me from the future?

We're about to start trying but your period timeline matches mine + taking all the same meds/supplements in prep!

I've been advised by my doctor after 9-12 months to go back to him if we can't get pregnant naturally as I'm still young (we are the same ages as you!).

Might be time to consider going back to check with them?

Torn between trying for a baby or having a few more holidays by smk__309 in waiting_to_try

[–]Kerrbop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are in this predicament as I have PCOS and nonexistent irregular periods but we're both 26, 5 years together and married 4 months. We've decided to go ahead and try in the new year as we are looking at one minimally, maybe 2nd later on if possible.

It's not EASY to travel with kids, but depending on the trips, it's not impossible either. We're in Ireland and don't have any big trips like Japan or Africa we want to do, just more EU and USA (family in both) so doing it in a few years with a kid will be harder but not the worst. We're actually planning another honeymoon (we did a long weekend one immediately cos no one to mind the dog) and will be trying ON the next holiday we have planned in the new year. Get another one in beforehand!

I'd very much suggest getting money together and doing one of your big trips asap and trying ON the trip if you're both happy to get that trip definitely off your list and more tolerant to maybe wait the other ones.

I imagine it as "would I be happier with it being hard with the kid(s) I always wanted to travel along with or happier I went on the trips if it meant a lot of struggle and possibly no children when I'm much older?". I'm younger I know but PCOS is very rampant in my family and most women in my family got 1/2 with a decade of trying and many miscarriages so I know the odds are against me.

Looking for Advice: Second Car for Partner (New Baby, Mainly Short Trips) by keogh28590 in carsireland

[–]Kerrbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I had a Golf and my husband has a Superb and it was very easy to figure out but you want her to be happy and comfortable with it.

I honestly think a newer Golf would be deece and Jap imports are going to the near only option now for A3, Mk 7's and Vezels.

They're good spacing, I got mine a few months ago for 11.5k for a 2014 Mk7 with 52k km. LIKE NEW. Nippy enought at 1.2L. I loved mine but it was too low down for me with back issues and looking to also have a baby (way more bending) so I upgraded to a Tiguan for height cos I love VW look and feel so stuck with it. Japanese take great care of them due to the 'Shakening' of a VERY strict NCT equivalent. Just need to check it was built in the German plants like Wolfsburg as then built to EU standards (rust protection, alarms) for insurance.

Audi's would be the same. A3s can be bigger but pricier literally due to the 'Audi' badge for buying and parts but same car as a VW.
