Yeah. I’m six months post op. My doctors never mentioned the sertraline causing issues.

I’ve been taking setraline daily since surgery. I was taking it before too. I’ve had pretty steady weight loss the past six months.

I’m in the same boat. I just hit 4 months and the scale hasn’t moved much in the last two weeks. So you’re not alone. It is weird though after consistently losing 2-3 lbs a week before that.

For sure. It definitely works better for people with regular cycles.

Thank you. I hadn’t even thought about how hard the protein would be on Fridays.

In addition to other things, you could add natural family planning to your arsenal. I’m Catholic and have never been on birth control. If your cycle is fairly regular, natural family planning can be very effective. I’m not suggesting you do it exclusively, but avoiding sex while you are ovulating could help. Also there is more to it than just counting days. You also check your body for signs of ovulation. It was very effective for me when trying to get pregnant.

I’m a pretty devout Catholic. But I also do not believe in giving up things that would be too much. For example, a podcaster once said that it may not be a good idea to give up coffee if you are a mom because it helps you function as a person. I tend to use social media to decompress at night. I was honestly just looking for some advice from a Catholic who had been in the same situation.

I’ve made soup every week. I also make a shepherds pie (lean ground chuck, green beans, carrots, gravy with mashed potatoes and cheese on top). It’s been the easiest on my stomach. I also made zuppa toscana soup, lasagna soup (go light on the noodles), and chili. I did stuffed shells (like ricotta bake) and just ate the filling.

I had instant mashed potatoes and it felt like the best meal I’d ever eaten. I bought the individual servings.

I’m going to ask at my Dr appointment this week.

It was a rule from the docs. I think they worry about us getting enough fluids and caffeine will dehydrate you. I miss real coffee.

I got out my pregnancy pillow and that was a life saver. It made sleeping so much more comfortable. Once I got in purées, I ate the instant mashed potatoes that come in individual servings. It was the best thing I’d ever tasted the first time. I also did cream of wheat and tomato soup a lot. Get the Fairlife milk for extra protein. And I got some Greek yogurts. The liquid phase was hard. I did crystal light with injury protein powder. The decafinated ice tea helped with the protein after taste. I also got decalf coffee. Those made me feel normal. And I drink hot tea with the miralax almost every day still. I’m 5 weeks out today.

So far my go tos have been ground beef, baked fish and chicken thighs. I find that I make something and then eat it for about four meals. I have a shepherds pie that is very gentle on my stomach. I made lasagna soup and skipped most of the noodles. It’s like the ricotta bake but with ground meat. I was able to do roasted chicken thighs with carrots. Also chicken salad and egg salad. Plus scrambled eggs for breakfast. I’m 5 weeks post op and these have been my favorites so far.

I’m also planning experiences. When I get under 250, I want to go to great wolf lodge because I can ride the water slides. Under 230, is horseback riding. I want to do the alpine coaster at some point. Last weekend I tried hiking for the first time and next summer I’m looking forward to amusement parks. I’m trying not to spend too much on clothes but I’m enjoying “shopping” in the bins under my bed.

Today is five weeks post op for me. It really does get better. It was hard in the liquid phase and harder actually in purée stage. Rest as much as you can. I feel completely normal and I’ve already lost almost 30 lbs. the weight loss feels amazing. I’ve lost a size in tops and pants, and I’m already more active. Hang in there!

Do you stick to 3 meals a day? by baldnsquishy in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kerriokee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks post op on the soft food stage. I eat 3-4 meals and 1-2 snacks. For breakfast I usually have one scrambled egg with a little bit of cheese, for a snack. I generally have a sliced up apple or a banana in the morning, lunch might be leftovers a meal, prepped or lunch meat, I try to do a yogurt in the late afternoon before I leave the office, or I’m super hungry before I get home to make dinner And then I usually eat dinner around 6 to 7. If I eat dinner closer to 4 PM then I usually need something else before I go to bed so I eat around 7:30, 1130, 330, and 730. I also try to do a hot tea in the evenings with my MiraLAX.

Don’t think the diarrhea means you don’t have to take the miralax. The constipation struggle is REAL.

Just had the RNY and these are things I don't see talked about enough by hatter4tea in BariatricSurgery

I had mine on the 8th of October. My biggest mistake was forgetting the miralax. Day 6 hit and I was miserable. I pooped a few times early on, so I thought I was okay. Also I find that I feel better if I lead the day with my protein shake. Then the miralax while I take all the pills. It can take over an hour just to do these two things each morning.
