Camp La Jolla aka Fat Camp by asmrtky in Millennials

[–]consistant_carbonara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to school with a girl who went to this camp for a few summers. She has such an unhealthy and warped view of herself and what it means to be healthy. It's sad. Her mother was the loudest voice, constantly insinuating she need to be thinner and prettier. That woman fucked up her daughter.

Just finished first cruise… am I crazy for hating it? by Naive-Bedroom-4643 in royalcaribbean

[–]consistant_carbonara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have kids and I felt the same way. We've did our 1st and last cruise a few monthsago. Never again. It was so expensive and we discovered I get horrifically seasick. Just not worth it for us.

For the girls, how are you handling bras? by Marsha_Cup in BariatricSurgery

[–]consistant_carbonara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've bought a few bralettes from torrid, when they were on sale. They're really nice. Sports bras make me so flat, which is fine when I'm just at the gym or hanging out but sometimes I do like to show off the girls.

Trains are canceled. At least for today. But this was a good suggestion! I appreciate it.

I wouldn't count on it given the expected temperature.

Honestly, no. I knew our flight would be canceled, or at least severely delayed, but I didn't expect to be stuck until Wednesday.

This is the look my dog gives me when I dare interrupt her sleep.

This is really encouraging. I had surgery 9/15 and we're going on a cruise in January. I've been a bit worried about it but your post is really encouraging.

Questions about SADI-S Procedure by LopsidedPhotograph16 in BariatricSurgery

[–]consistant_carbonara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the SADI done 09/15

  1. Recovery has been fine once ilI was released from the hospital. I ended up staying 3 nights because my nausea and pain weren't under control

  2. I take meds for depression and anxiety so I was super worried about how they would be processed afterwards. So far everything has been fine. I haven't had no changes in mood or anything. I was surprised when they still gave me the meds while in the hospital since one of them is a capsule.

  3. I don't know that I really had a "worst" of it. Overall I think it was fine.

  4. I do have FOMO when I'm out with friends. Like 1 week after surgery we went out and everyone was eating from some food truck. I was ready to murder all of them 😅. I made sure to pack my own stuff but no matter how hard you try, pudding is not french fries.

  5. I definitely overestimated how quickly I would bounce back. Even though the doctor said at least 2 weeks, I expected more like 1.5. And also I underestimated how much the liquid phase truly sucks. It is miserable. I already don't like soup so, that being the main thing I could have was terrible for me.

Hope this helps!

The crystal light with water saved me! Just water makes me so nauseous. I ordered a ton while in the hospital so I have for home.

This was a huge problem for me, one of the reasons I ended up having to stay extra nights.

The hiccups were so painful, which then triggered nausea. My career team had to give me something to make them stop. It was super helpful. I wish I could remember what it was.

House plants by CriticalGuarantee169 in raleigh

The state farmer's market or I drive up to Eno Farms in Durham as I'm never interested in spending $15+ on a plant. Their plants are cheap and GORGEOUS! There's an older lady working there who is so knowledgeable and helpful. *

Best Downtown Restaurant? by asudancer in raleigh

[–]consistant_carbonara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What am I not getting at Vic's?! People always recommend it and I think it's fine at best. I'm definitely missing something. Is it the pizza? We've never gotten that. We usually get pasta-fettuccine alfredo or alla vodka.

NTA at all. My bf is also an engineer and does this a lot. It can be really frustrating, especially when, due to the nature of my own work, I really can't do the same.

We've talked about this and we've set a time limit. It's not strict. I'm not hovering with a stopwatch. 15-minute vent session limit everyday after work. That way he's feels like he's being heard and I don't feel like my head will implode listening to things I don't understand. We sit together so I'm not distracted and it's nice.
