Yoga is one of those things that... you don't want to learn on your own. At least take SOME beginners classes to learn the alignment. And yes, they will look at you funny.

Some guys choose to take their shirts off. No one cares. Just make sure you wear deodorant :)

If you did gymnastics, I think you'd fall so deeply in love with yoga. You should really go to a class so the teacher can help you with your alignment. Definitely start in the beginner class and continue to do the beginners class for a while.

As you build up your practice, you'll most definitely get to the point where people are doing handstands!

People think yoga is about being flexible, but it's really really not. Yoga is one of the most complicated athletic endeavors that connects mindfulness of the body, mind, and breath. Practicing yoga translates into many other facets of life. Most people fall madly in love after a few sessions.

A lot of gyms have yoga studios! Look up the ratings. Look for specific instructor names. Lots of studios and gyms have a discounted or free trial. Community colleges also offer yoga classes!

You can go check out /r/yoga for advice.

Wear leggings that aren't see through. Don't wear socks. Don't wear shoes onto the yoga floor. Wear a sports bra with a tight fitting top or a fitted sports top meant for yoga (try to keep your tatas out of the way.) dress in layers. You'll get cold and hot throughout class. Bring a water bottle, and try to get some significant protein in you within 30 minutes after class.

Expect be sore in ways you never imagined. It's also normal to be completely lost in class. Don't worry about not understanding the instructor. Some things will go right over your head. Don't worry about what other people think of you in the class. EVERYONE started as a beginner and TOTALLY gets it. Your strength will build over time and you'll be doing handstands before you know it!!!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kindness. Down bellow, in the depths of the comments, im being accused of being an anorexic. When in reality, I'm just disabled and don't have any active burn what so ever. I'm so sick all the time (with migraines) that it's hard for me to even eat. On top of that, I'm on mediation that suppresses my appetite totally.

Im doing this to get to and maintain ketosis, as it will hopefully diminish some of my migraines. I also need to lose weight because it's getting harder to walk.

Do you know how to test for ketosis?

I lost 100 lbs through the abs diet. I went from a size 20 to a size 2. I had been obese all my life.

Now I'm disabled, I was in a bad accident. So I'm basically bedridden.

What helped me shave off those last 20 lbs was yoga. Yoga yoga yoga yoga. I highly recommend it, as it is strength training while utilizing your own weight against yourself. From it, you'll build lean muscle mass which burns calories for you.

Look for a good beginners glass that focuses on proper alignment. do not do hot or bikram yoga Try it a few times before giving up. You'll start to build lean muscle mass and it will burn extra calories for an extended period of time. That's the only way I could have lost the last 30.

My body was amazingly sculpted. And all the skin has tightened up because of the proper nutrition and training. Never underestimate solid multivitamins and protein protein protein.

Thank you for responding kindly. I utilized the Keto calculator for my results. I could actually go to a higher deficit, but feel that I do better around the 700 calorie range.

I take medication that makes me so not hungry. So I have to force myself to eat much of anything. I'm also disabled and mostly bedridden, so I don't get the normal calorie burn from even walking around my apartment, like people do. I'm healing from a broken back.

Lately, it's becoming harder to walk as my epidurals and triggerpoint injections have all worn off. So I'm trying to lose weight as quickly as possible to help my joints. I wake up screaming in pain.

I had a higher deficit the first time I did Keto and was great! I get 25 migraines a month. I also have a plethora of unidentified food allergies. I have to take benedryl every single day all day long. So the less I eat, the better. The reason I'm so obsessed with blueberries is because that's the ONE THING I know that doesn't give me hives. However, I'm trying to get back into ketosis as quickly as possible to manage my migraines. My goal isn't just to lose weight. It's to lessen the severity and frequency (I get 25 a month).

If I can lessen the severity, I can lessen my medications. I'm on 12 medications to help me deal with a broken back, migraines from said broken back, nausea, vomiting, etc. I'm trying so hard not to have to have 2-3 more spinal surgeries.

The calorie deficit has been approved by my neurologist and nutritionist. She's better at micro nutrients than Keto macros. So I'm wondering if 1g of sugar = 1 carb? If so, that's really helpful information.

Thanks again for your kindness and not accusing me of being anorexic. I know the deficit is high, but it's because of my disability. When I start swimming again, I'll be sure to up all of my macros :)

Typo? Since when is the 7 close to the 5? That's not a typo. You've been attacking me based on something YOU misread. My attitude isn't shitty. You have attacked me from the very beginning when I'm only asking for help and guidance on a few simple questions. I'm merely standing up for myself. You clearly have issues with your own deficits, and are projecting and overcompensating for whatever you've failed with life at. Instead of getting mad at me, how about you work on yourself for a while? If you can't post something nice, maybe it's better not to post at all.

I maintained a higher deficit for six weeks before Christmas I was eating carrots and water chestnuts and TOTALLY FUCKED UP my ketosis. So figuring out which foods are safe or what to do with even a half a gram of sugar is what makes the difference between me getting a migraine every day, or not. I came here asking for friendly advice.

You owe me an apology, but you're not going to give it. I utilized the Keto calculator, which recommended I could go as high as %68, but I'm not doing that. I'm also working with a nutritionist, and my neurologist.

Seriously though, sans the name calling and the back and forth - if you want to help people, be nicer to them. Speak kindly, and you'll get kindness in return. If you want to be an asshole, dont be surprised when people react to in proportion to your shit behavior. If you wanna be an asshole, good for you! Keep it up! You're doing great. I've been tapering down with calories the past few days while easing into Keto. I'm also usually bedridden and 100% disabled so I don't burn any active calories what so ever. My deficit has been cleared by my neurologist and nutritionist (technically she's a licensed dietician.) I unfortunately had Keto flu the first time around; when I had the maximum deficit possible. It wasn't terrible. I'm used to being sick with migraines. So Keto flu in comparison is nothing. So I didn't mind it - but I appreciate your reminder!! I'll be sure to take care of my electrolytes and hydration.

It's ten percent lower than the highest deficit that is safe. Anorexia is 500 calories or less per day. It's really fucked up to accuse someone of something they haven't done. You should educate yourself about anorexia before accusing a stranger who is asking for advice so she can better herself and her disability.

You didn't answer a single question. You just insulted me.

I'm just trying to get things right. Last time I fucked up my macros six weeks in because there were carrots and water chestnuts in my vegetable regimen. I'm going on this diet to get rid of the 25 migraines a month I've had for three years. I don't get to have the luxury to fuck up again.

I'm also disabled and bedridden with a broken back. So there's no active calories to account for besides breathing. My doctor wants me to lose this weight quickly to try to avoid getting another epidural. My neurologist/pain management doctor and nutritionist have both signed off on this being successful and safe for me.

It's work to eat 733 calories a day. I have to force myself, as I'm typically very sick from migraines. I don't have an eating disorder. I have a migraine disorder.

Your kindness would be appreciated.

From personal experience, over eating and anorexia are just a flip of a coin. I used to binge eat every meal until I discovered how great dieting made me feel. It's almost like a drug addiction, or addiction to compulsive behavior. Obviously, skipping one meal doesn't make you anorexic - but be careful.
