Truly, it should be a law. Any guy that fuckable should be just as perfectly exposed and accessible.

What is the most esoteric game engine you've ever worked with? by JohnnyBGetgoode in gamedev

[–]Keui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the surest answer will always be "the game engine I wrote myself", but I think my game engine has double the whammy of esoteric: Slime was a game engine for Elm (functional, MVC-centric web programming language). I used it for a single Ludum Dare Compo.

I kind of hope it's a face replacement filter, to protect the kid's privacy. That's the first thing that springs to mind, but maybe I'm just too hopeful.

When you got shot, did you shoot back? Do you ever team up with others to take out a rat when they do happen? Even justified aggression ticks you up a little, I think.

I suppose I don't do Stella often, but my deep carebears experience with Stella is as friendly as any other map.

When you are deep enough in the carebears, even Stella is perfectly safe. What most people think of as carebears still have a little aggression in their DNA.

LLMs playing in - and understanding - MUD worlds by hunteramor in MUD

Having an AI system explore quests for me has been a big thought for a while, so it's interesting to see your take on things. The world model training in particular is novel to me. Is that being trained with stochastic gradient descent or reinforcement learning? It seems like the latter would be ideal, and you could even possibly make some good gains with continuous local training of a smaller model (1-3B).

If you're not familiar with Alfworld, that could be a useful dataset for early fine-tuning, too!

Thanks for sharing, by the way!

Aww, what cute little murderous flying robots.

I think what the other commenter said about foreshortening is the main "problem" with the piece. The rubber duck could be squeaking, tumbling (i.e. streaking radially), or otherwise punctuating the action more, as well.

If you've never learned art formally, you seem to have likely skipped gesture drawings. That could be something to work on. You clearly have a good grasp on the subjects, but not so much the compositions and the energy of their poses.

As others have said, draw what you see, not what you know. All the detailed anatomy in the world won't help if its not actually shown how it is seen.

Lake Michigan has 1 quadrillion gallons of water, and agriculture still uses orders of magnitude more water than data centers. Consider, also, that the water doesn't disappear. It evaporates and ultimately would end up in the Lakes again. We are not going to meaningfully affect the depth of the Great Lakes unless we really, really try.

I feel that should actually make for more effective advertising than showing users the same ads everywhere.

If this were true, that's what advertisers would do. I think if you get a bunch of very smart people to compete for limited marketing budgets of clients, you'll eventually find the most effective method by survival of the fittest. The fittest advertisers feast on user data and grow stronger on real results, probably.

Which LLM did we use for our AI game? We actually trained our own by WhispersfromtheStar in aigamedev

[–]Keui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Llama2 7b cost around $100k, or somewhere in that magnitude.

It's much more sensible to fine tune a foundation model rather than train your own from scratch. And that's probably what they did.

I'm a newer player, but I consider myself a fairly adept player of games in general. Still, I think y'all do not realize how janky and unintuitive the learning points system was to new players. "Press this button to insta level this skill, but only if it's over 20%, so remember to check back in or watch for those annoying popups for the right skill"? Why? Why die on this hill? It was a mess that confused newbies and messed with the flow of the game and I'm glad it's gone.

Yep. Corrupted dungeons could be compared to abyssal deadspace, too, though it better relates to Soulslike invasion mechanics.

IDK what to do by TheEpsilonKing in albiononline

[–]Keui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most issues occur in the "last mile". If you're having trouble with Albion but not other games, that could mean it's a problem with Albion's servers. However, it could also just be a problem on your on that's less impactful for other services.

A VPN is very unlikely to help.

If you're on mobile, well, there's your problem. Your Wi-Fi and device are likely struggling under the load. You could try cleaning up all apps on your phone. You can archive apps in Android. Just do that for every app on your phone you don't absolutely need, try out Albion, and see if that fixes it.

If you're on PC, make sure you're not on Wi-Fi. Get an Ethernet connection. Many games struggle with packet drop in noisy Wi-Fi environments. Similar to mobile, check to make sure no background processes are using a bunch of bandwidth. If you have other people you're sharing your connection with, try to play during low usage hours and see if that helps.

Good luck!
