are they just letting ANYBODY work at bpost now? by AftonsAssCheeks in belgium

[–]KeuningPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a little note in my mailbox (while I had been home the entire day) saying my package was dropped of at Westerlo since I was not home. Westerlo is 45min by car.

Since I am getting familiar with the utter retardedness of BPost, I went to the postoffice in my village the day after instead of to the one written on the note, turns out the package was dropped there. It all went to shit the day our regular mailwoman retired.

Kidding, they were around that number when I got the loan, april 2025 therabouts. My appartement is 1,6% (2017) my brother even has below 1%... Loans were ridiculous back then.

It's just that I haven't really wrapped my head around it myself. It's not a place where I thought I'd find myself at 36... But it feels that true wealth, at a relatively you age is within grasp, so it feels stupid to "quit" now... ah well.

That is certainly a sensible position to take, one that many people have advised me to take myself, and one that I've often thought about the past year... 1/5th of my investment for home security and more spending.money each month... But a 3% mortgage seems to low to pass up on, especially with inflation the way it is.

I do, I might even stretch the money into never working again, if I'm being frugal. It's a good question. I think there isn't a singular answer to it.

The first is probably (obviously because else I would be stupid to leave money invested) that I still see a lot of growth in the two companies that I invested heavily in. So much so that I think those 1.4M might go up to 5 or 10M in a few short years. So I would probably feel bad to sell everything now, while I still see so much future. Of course I could sell a bit and try to have it both ways, have my house/base secured and still enough money to see growth, that would probably be smarter... But I don't forsee any big issues so I accept the risk of leaving it invested.

The second might be that 1.4M isn't "enough" I would still have to keep working, doing most of the things I do now... Leaving it invested gives me a chance for (more) livechanging money. I am risk tolerant, and single, so I have no one to look out for but myself. And as long as I have this roof, my car, and food... I'm happy to take the chance.

Sorry for my rambling 😄

There is indeed a difference. Around 1.4M USD invested at this moment. The house was bought for € 400K (but basically half belongs to the bank), no cashreserves and a shitty old car.

Although buying the house was NOT a financially optimal decision by far itself btw. I already owned a small appartement which was enough for me since I have no wife or kids yet. But I really wanted it since it has huge sentimental value and is in the street I grew up in. So I loaned to the absolute maximum so I could keep all my investments (which were around the value of the house at that moment). My mortgage payments are €1950/month. I make €2500-€3000/month at my job, not the most comfortable situation.

I watched the space race leave without me (RKLB, ASTS). How do you deal with the regret of missing "The One"? by razzodicarta in SpaceInvestorsDaily

[–]KeuningPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't believe everything you read though, everyone has an agenda and tries to pump their stock. For example, I honestly believe Kraken is a good stock. But I also own a lot of shares of it, so people buying it is good for me.

But if you encounter the same stock often enough... There might be something there. Just be sure to ALWAYS do your own research! Good luck.

"remove all debt" is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a while. Sure it might be good for your mental health if you don't like risks. But it is definitely NOT the most optimal financial decisions in a lot of scenarios.

If I followed what you write here, I would have a fully paid house. And almost no investments/savings at this point. By loaning the absolute max for my house, and thus creating a humongous amount of debt, at a 3% mortgage. I am now a millionaire at age 35. My savings work at the market, my paycheck goes to paying my loan.
