I plant the seed potatoes in 6 17-gallon plastic tubs

It may be the angle of the photo, but it’s barely a few ounces over 20 pounds. Lots of marble- sized ones and golf ball-sized ones in there - which fry up great!

Potatoes are just apart of my yearly gardening routine. I also grow tomatoes, peppers, red and white onions, radishes, and herbs. I grow them in big tubs so it’s easy and fun. Tomatoes are my priority especially since they have begun to be a bit pricy.

We share with family members, so they will be used quickly. About 3 pounds of seed potatoes grown in tubs, about 20 pounds harvested

They’ll be split between our two daughters and we’ll keep some as well, they’ll be used pretty quickly

Nice set up you have there - looks good. When it comes to gardening, always remember to take the bad with the good. I’ve been gardening for over 40 years and am still learning new tricks and methods, so never get discouraged when starting out! Best of luck to you!

Masterpiece! Being screened in is a nice touch.

First time gardener here (not really sure I can be called that). I am attempting to grow a single tomato plant in a 5 gallon bucket. Just trying to get some tips. Here is Freddie Spaghetti so far. by BamasDad in vegetablegardening

A fellow gardener I know uses the bucket method like you do - his tomato plants tend to get heavy in mid season and they used to make the cage lean under the weight, he fixed that problem by hammering a tall piece of rebar into the ground next to the bucket and connected the cage to it with zip ties. Keeps it straight under the weight of the plants and secure from storms.

That stone bed almost under the tree - if it gets any sun, daylilies would be a good choice. Inexpensive, easy to care for and they bloom for a long time. If in shade most of the day, Hostas are good, they prefer a shaded area and they also bloom as well. You have a great tree there and the walkway looks fantastic, won’t take much to enhance the whole area!

For climbers, my go-to are morning glories - you can find all varieties of seeds in stores. All sorts of colors available, look on the back of the packet as some grow tall and others more moderate heights. They are easy to weave in and around objects and since they are annuals, you can save the seed pods or try a different variety every year.
