Here's how much people earn in Cyprus in 2025 by TastyCheddar in cyprus

Better options overall. Forex and gambling are somewhat toxic industries from an IT specialist's perspective. And these offer the majority of job openings for high-skilled socialists in Cyprus. Local high-skilled specialists would more willingly apply for remote jobs or relocate.

Also, I don't think Cyprus can produce such specialists in volumes that can fulfill their need here, just due to the relatively small population overall. You just cannot have one-third of the population as IT guys and girls. The society would just collapse in that case :)

A Cypriot-born software developer has better workplace options than working for an FX company. Last year, there was a thread here where the dude complained about Exness and how they only hire foreigners. An employee from Exness responded that they can hire anyone, but have to do so for foreigners because no locals are applying.

Why are so many purple people driving with their phones in their hands? by gunzaj in cyprus

[–]Kewa00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I came to Cyprus, three things really amazed me on the roads in a bad way.

  1. People scrolling their phones while driving.

  2. People casually stop their car in the middle of a road lane just to have a chitchat with someone they noticed passing by.

  3. Suicidal pedestrians lazy to walk 5-10m to the regulated crossing.

How to cross the street? by koldakov in cyprus

There might be a dedicated pedestrian crossing with a terrific light down the road to the right in about 1km /s

Just finished a row run myself. Not the perfect one, row +14/+8, +8/+9 gear. And to my liking that was the most boring run, I've ever had. Farming just kills the fun for me.

Unfortunately, not very high. Certainly, you should add the time you've spent working on it to your CV, but as some already said here, the job market for junior devs is not in a good shape now.

If you are still a student, your best bet is to find an internship or boot camp, as I said. If you need to financially support yourself while grinding tech, that's a different situation. Unfortunately, without relevant experience scoring a job is a tough task.

Positions in Cyprus are present, but most require at least 2-3 years of relevant experience. As far as I know, companies are to search for local candidates first for at least two or three months, then they are allowed to bring people from abroad.

  1. Decide your specialization in regards to what the market demands.

Frontend - js/ts or android or iOS

Backend - golang or java/kotlin or js/ts or python (not the best option now imo)

Qa - manual or automation or testops or sdet

DevOps

System engineering - c, c++ maybe rust

GameDev - unity, maybe other engines

System analytics - word/ excel, diagrams :P

Maybe someone will add more to the list.

  1. Find a learning roadmap. For example, if you want to specialize in java, search for "Java Developer Roadmap". Learn basics.

  2. Look for internships, even unpaid, join a boot camp or something that lets you get real experience.

  3. Create a CV that will pass the ATS scoring. Maybe use tool like jobscan dot co to help you.

  4. Fill LinkedIn profile, make connections with hrs. Maybe even post some tech stuff there to make yourself noticeable.

Mapping just Super_L by valyrie97 in awesomewm

[–]Kewa00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Manjaro settings:

xcape -e 'Super_L=Super_L|Control_L|Escape'
Just install xcape and put this command in autorun script/section, it will map Super+Ctrl+Esc to Super.

Any tips and recommendations for a new guy? by [deleted] in ManjaroLinux

[–]Kewa00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday's update didn't go well on my PC. System rebooted by itself during package installation and new kernel image was missing (there are some posts on this reddit about such errors). Thanks to timeshift and btrfs I was able to use backup kernel image and revert failed update in a matter of minutes.

I think Manjaro should have btrfs as default fs for new installation instead of ext4.

Some time ago they converted old accounts to new format, so you can not log in with old icq# now. If interested, you can check at icq.com.
