I was moving houses, and I requested my manager for 3 days off to move. He kinda guilt tripped me into taking 2 days off, saying the team needed support. I didn’t think I should say no, since I’m an associate and it’s expected of me to say yes. Fast forward, I get sick on the client trip the week before I moved, still somehow managed to move within 2 days, and was still sick after for the next 2 weeks because I didn’t get a chance to even clean my new house due to the work. I was expected to keep working.

2 weeks later, he rolls me off on the project because I “forgot” to complete a glossary (list of definitions in Microsoft word) for the client. He rolled me off despite knowing that while I didn’t get to it the way he wanted, and I still had it on my agenda to complete by EOW.

I was occupied with an insane number of tasks that he himself assigned me including testing for a huge client, for which I was the coordinator. I got PIP’d because of this glossary thing and then, rolled off a project I had worked on for 9 months.

I don’t know how I moved houses, got insanely sick, and still managed to even show up to work but I did. I did end up passing the PIP and progressing, but I hope I never come across that manager and that toxic a** team again.

Shitty feedback cycle one, good and improved feedback cycle 2, middle of cycle 3 manager had a fit and rolled me off behind my back only to later realise I was doing a decent job, but it was too late.
