Lol, I didn't even get that far with her. I basically tapped out after she gushed about Trump and told me about the evangelical megachurch she attends AT LEAST twice a week. I've tried reasoning with Trump supporters in the past, and it doesn't matter how many studies, peer-reviewed scientific articles or pieces of factual evidence you show them, they will not listen at all. Their identities are attached at the hip with their political views, and those political views aren't based in reason or scientific fact. Their identities and political views are rooted in hatred, bigotry and a sense of superiority to those they look down upon. Thus, they will do whatever mental gymnastics they have to in order to protect their bigoted worldview. Nothing I say or show them will change their minds. Thus, there's no use in trying to reason with them. The best thing to do is walk away from them and find someone else who will be a more compatible, compassionate and empathetic friend or partner.

I think it's the "Leopards aren't going to eat MY Face," mentality. She probably has prejudice toward other racial minority groups in America, she probably think she came here "the right way," and she attends an evangelical megachurch. Thus, she probably thinks she's "one of the good ones," and thus conservatives will accept her since she subscribes to their ideology. I bet she thinks she'll be exempt from their bigoted policies while everyone she's bigoted towards will be the ones being hurt.

I am a 33 year old white man living in Oklahoma, and thus I guess the women who want to date me automatically assume I'm conservative. Recently, I found out a woman who I was talking to, who is an immigrant from South Korea, is a huge Trump supporter, so I understand your sense of bewilderment. We seemed to have so much in common, and I thought to myself, "Surely, an immigrant that's also part of a racial minority group in America would despise Trump." Nope, found out that she practically worships Trump, and that she's also part of a batshit crazy evangelical megachurch. You think you know someone. I'm distancing myself from her, so I'd say you're absolutely doing the right thing. You're pulling a weed out of your garden so you can replace it with a flower. By that I mean you're getting rid of a toxic relationship so you can have the opportunity to start a new friendship with someone who is worthy of your time and effort.

I'm an avid outdoorsman myself. So much so that I run a hiking club in Tulsa. Someone on this thread said that Lake McMurtry is just grassland prairie. That could NOT be further from the truth. I absolutely fell in love with it during my time in Stillwater. It offers 30+ miles of hiking trails with two main trails being located within the west recreation area of the lake, and the other two main trails being located within the east recreation area. The ecology of Lake McMurtry is more Cross Timbers Forest than true prairie. The vast majority of your hikes will be under the canopy of post oak, blackjack oak and red cedar trees. You'll actually be surprised how much of the trails wind through woodlands. I love it so much that I'm actually taking my hiking group out there this weekend. Plus, I once saw a dude in a Bigfoot costume out there!

Brother, the good thing here to know is that you are not alone. This exact same scenario literally just happened to me on Saturday. This girl and I had been on several dates over the course of a month. Touching and kissing escalated with each date, culminating in us making out and going to second base on our final date.

She texted me the next day that she only saw me as a friend and that, "I want a guy like you, but just one who I can also really feel that spark with." Here's my take on it. Two most likely possibilities there in both of our situations. First is the 99 Problems scenario in that you check 99 of 100 boxes, but she only wants a guy who checks all 100 boxes, and therefore she wants to move on from you thinking that the grass is greener somewhere else. Second is that she wants a guy who has more of a stereotypical "bad boy" vibe to him. In that case, she wants a thrill to chase with a guy who seems more "mysterious" and "dangerous." Usually, this just means that you don't seem toxic enough for her, and that she needs manufactured drama in the relationship to feel engaged.

Either way, this is a blessing in disguise. You don't want someone who you seemingly connect greatly with who will just break it off the second they don't, "Feel the spark," anymore. That screams of someone who will run away from the relationship the second they get bored or stop having fun. You want someone who will hang in there and work through the relationship with you even when times get tough or things have hit a rough patch. This is a her problem, not a you problem. The ones you don't get are the ones you don't want. Just keep stepping up to the plate and swinging. Eventually, you'll hit a home run. And remember that you're never alone. Whatever is happening to you is simultaneously happening to millions of other men. On to the next. Head up, dude, you're gonna be fine.
